Chapter 18 Attempted Murder
Nigel was only 12 years old, and he was frightened by such a scene. His originally sickly complexion
became even paler.
He retreated repeatedly and said, âIt wasnât me. I really didnât stab her.â
Averyâs eyes were bloodshot. He grabbed Nigel by the collar and threw Nigel to the ground.
Nigelâs head was slammed onto the wall behind him, and his body fell heavily to the ground.
When Avery was about to help Vivian, who was covered in blood, a doctor stopped him. âSir, we still
donât know how serious her injuries are. Letâs give it to the professional doctors.â
Avery stood up with a darkened face and took two steps back. He watched as the doctors and nurses
carried Vivian to the hospital trolley.
When Vivian was pushed out of the ward, her face was full of fear. She stared at Avery and said weakly,
âAvery, help me.â
Avery instructed Cyrus to keep a close eye on Nigel and stop Nigel from escaping. Then, Avery helped
push the trolley and sent Vivian to the door of
the emergency room.
Avery had a long face as he stared at Vivian, who was about to be pushed into the emergency room.
âDonât worry, I will seek justice for you.â
Vivian stretched out her hand weakly and grabbed Averyâs palm. Then, her
hand fell lightly, and she was pushed into the emergency room.
Avery turned around and strode back to Vivianâs ward.
In the ward, Nigel was blocked by Cyrus and could not go anywhere. So Nigel could only shrink in the
corner and tremble in fear.
Avery took a few steps toward Nigel and caused the latter to retreat and say in panic, âAvery, I really
didnât hurt that woman.â
âA nurse told me that my sister wanted to see me. I remembered that my sisterâs ward was on this floor
and came over. But the moment I came in, I saw that woman stabbing herself in front of me.
Avery suddenly lifted Nigel from the ground. His bloodshot eyes looked even scarier while Avery gripped
Nigelâs neck. âDonât call my name. You are not worthy, just like your vicious sister.â
Nigel was young, but he knew that stabbing someone with a knife was not a small matter. He anxiously
said, âI want to see my sister. My sister will prove my innocence. Let go!â
Avery was almost out of control. The palm that was gripping Nigelâs neck continuously exerted force, and
Averyâs fingertips ruthlessly pinched Nigelâs
neck.
âLeave your body here. You can talk to your sister in your afterlife.â
Cyrus was worried that Avery would make things worse, so he anxiously tried to dissuade Avery. âSir,
please calm down. The matter has already happened. No matter what the actual situation is, let the
police handle it.â
But Avery knew very well that a 12âyearâold teenager like Nigel would not be
sentenced even if he killed someone.
If Nigel were to enter the juvenile detention center, he would have to be at
least 14 years old.
When he thought of that, Avery was even more certain that it was Darlene
who had instructed Nigel to do so. Otherwise, it would be impossible for Nigel to suddenly come over
and stab Vivian.
Darlene had such a good plan, but Avery would not allow her to do as she
wished.
When Cyrus saw that Nigel was about to suffocate, he was worried that Nigel would die, so Cyrus could
only quietly go out and call Darlene over.
Nigel was about to faint, and under Averyâs palm, Nigelâs face looked extremely pale.
Urgent footsteps were coming from outside, and Darleneâs anxious and angry voice was heard. âAvery,
let go of him!â
As she hurried inside, Darlene stepped on a pool of blood by the bedside and
almost fell.
Looking down, Darlene was so scared that she almost stopped breathing. Under the light, there was a
shocking mass of blood on the ground.
An extremely bad premonition welled up in her heart. Darlene heard Avery say coldly, âLet go? Darlene,
your brother stabbed Vivian and sent her into the emergency room. Her condition is unknown. What
qualifications do you have to make me release your brother?â
Darlene rushed over and reached out to grab Averyâs hand. âImpossible. I donât care what tricks Vivian
has played in front of you again. If you dare to touch my brother, I will fight you to the death.â
She desperately wanted to pull Averyâs hand away. When Darlene saw Nigelâs face turn purple, she was
burning with anxiety.
Avery still had a trace of rationality left, so he did not touch Darlene. He said coldly, âMove your hand!
Darlene, Iâm warning you. If I find out that you are
the one who instigated this, Iâll take your life to avenge Vivian.â
Just as he finished speaking, Darleneâs eyes turned red, and she suddenly bit fiercely down on Averyâs
arm that was squeezing Nigelâs neck.
She broke the skin on Averyâs arm, and Averyâs face completely darkened. He let go of Nigel and
immediately exerted force in his hand, throwing
Darlene out.
Darlene slammed the back of her head into the bed, and her entire body trembled from the pain while
she coughed out a mouthful of blood.
Nigel endured the pain and crawled over to protect Darlene. âDid he hurt you? Are you okay?â
Darlene reached out and protected Nigel to her side. âIâm fine. Tell me that you didnât do it, right?â
Nigel nodded with red eyes, âI didnât. A nurse called me over to look for you. As soon as I came in, that
woman stabbed herself with a knife. Then she threw the knife to my feet and screamed for help. Then
the doctors and
nurses came in.â
Darlene shook her hand and grabbed Nigelâs hands. âNigel, donât be afraid. I
trust you, and I will protect you.â
Avery sneered, âMs. Garcia, donât act on your assumption. Cyrus, contact the
police now and bring Nigel to the detention center to wait for the
investigation. I want to see how she plans to protect her brother.â
Darlene gritted her teeth. In the end, Darlene lowered her head and crawled
to Averyâs side. âI beg you. My brother is still young. Even if you ask the police to arrest him, the police
canât do anything to him. Donât you hate me for hurting Vivian? You can do anything to me.â
Avery bent down and raised his finger to lift her chin. âYou really admitted
it! It was you who harmed Vivian. It was you who knew that your brother was underage and wouldnât go
to jail. All of this was plotted by you, right?â
Darleneâs nails dug into her palms, and she only repeatedly begged Averyâs forgiveness. âAs long as you
let my brother go, I will do everything you
want.â
Even though Nigel was underage, Avery still had thousands of ways to make Nigel go to jail and even
suffer more miserable torture than going to jail.
However, Nigel was currently seriously ill, and he had to rely on the infusion bottles in the hospital all the
time. Once he was locked up, regardless of whether he was in jail or the detention center, Nigel could be
in danger at
any time.
The corners of Averyâs lips curled into a cold smile as he looked at Darlene with disgust. âMs. Garcia,
please explain clearly what you mean by that.â
Darleneâs shoulders began to tremble. It was a lie to say that she was not
afraid at all.
But she clearly said, âNo matter where you want me to go and what you want
me to do, I will do it as you please.â
Avery laughed. âAlright, Cyrus, bring Nigel out. No one is allowed to talk about what happened tonight.â
Cyrus agreed and dragged the struggling Nigel out.
Darlene said anxiously, âBut you canât hurt my brother. We agreed before.â
Avery sized Darlene up carefully. âThat will depend on you, Ms. Garcia.â
Then a doctor came in from outside and told Avery, âMr. Gallard, Ms.
Sheridan is temporarily out of danger. She will be able to come out after half an hour of observation in
the emergency room.â
