Chapter 65 Not Decent to Be a Home Wrecker

Darlene stayed in Averyâs arms and did not have any reaction. Avery had been getting along very badly
with Darlene all the time.
Avery couldnât even remember how long it had been since he saw her have a sound
sleep.
He placed Darlene on the bed and brought over some warm water. Then he helped her
wash and change her clothes clumsily.
Darlene was really too thin. Avery helped her change into loose clothes and stared at her
slender arms and neck for a while.
He could not understand why Darlene, a healthy person, would suddenly lose so much
weight.
Just as he was lost in thought, Darleneâs phone rang in the bag on the bedside table.
Just now, the servant brought over Darleneâs clothes, as well as her phone.
Avery went around and took out her phone from the bag. It was a string of unfamiliar
numbers.
He hesitated for a moment and answered it. Gustaveâs voice immediately sounded over
the phone. âWhy didnât you answer the phone or reply to the message? I arrived in Baltimore. See you
tomorrow morning.â
Averyâs face turned gloomy as he replied, âSee you tomorrow morning?â
Gustave fell into a brief silence and then laughed. âMr. Gallard, what a coincidence.â
Averyâs tone was unkind. âHow come? Mr. Walpole, you called my wife at midnight and wanted to meet
her. Itâs not a coincidence, but inappropriate.â
Avery thought of something and felt even more displeased. âSpeaking of which, I have to talk with you
about something, Mr. Walpole, right? About the matter of you using a body to fake my wife.â
Gustave played dumb. âWhat? I donât know what you mean by that. Itâs over. Mr. Gallard, just let the
bygones be bygones.
âWell, since you and your wife donât get along well, youâd better part with each other.

Averyâs face was sullen. âOur relationship is very good. Mr. Walpole, you donât have to
worry.
âMr. Walpole, since I have been in business with you for many years, I will let you go. I hope that you can
behave yourself. Mr. Walpole, itâs not decent to be a home wrecker.â
Gustave said half-jokingly, âMr. Gallard, you seem to be too confident in your marriage. Youâve tried to
ground and threaten Darlene. You canât be considered a good couple, right? It is a relief to both of you if
you end it earlier.â
Avery had his nerve touched. There was only a marriage certificate left between him and
Darlene.
He was not sure if Darlene still had feelings for him.
Gustave continued, âSince it is inconvenient for Darlene to answer the phone, I will call
back later. I donât have much to talk to you about, Mr. Gallard. I have to go.â
Avery still wanted to warn Gustave, telling him not to go too far and find excuses to get
close to Darlene.
Before Avery could speak it out, Gustave hung up the phone, and there was a beeping
sound.
Avery stared at the number on the phone. The more he looked at it, the more offended he felt. Avery
then blacklisted the number. He felt a little guilty and dared not touch her when Darlene was sleeping
soundly on the bed.
He held the phone for a long time. In the end, Avery deleted the call record and placed Darleneâs phone
back on the bedside table.
Avery held her cold hand and leaned against the bed. He said in a low voice, âThere wonât be that day.
Youâre always my wife. We wonât divorce.â
He leaned against the bed and dozed off. It was already midnight, so he did not sleep for long before it
was light.
Darlene did not wake up for the entire night. When Avery woke up the next day by the
bed, she still slept soundly.
Avery asked the doctor to check her. After confirming that there was nothing serious, he

continued to stay with her.

There were a few knocks on the door before Cyrus said, âMr. Gallard, Iâve checked the Southwood Villa.
Do you want to take a look now?â
Avery sat by the bed and reached out to touch Darleneâs forehead. Her temperature was normal, and
there was nothing serious.
It seemed that she would probably sleep for at least two more hours.
Avery got up and went out. He glanced at the stuff in Cyrusâ hands and said, âCall Mary
over and ask her.â
Cyrus made a call and quickly called Mary over. So did Vivian.
Avery sat in the break room next to the ICU. When Mary and Vivian came in, he asked, âMary, I asked
you to go to Southwood Villa to see Darlene yesterday. Did you go? Why did I hear that you were in
Scenery Villa?â
Mary explained uneasily, âMr. Gallard, I was planning to go to Southwood Villa
yesterday.
âLater in the afternoon, after I helped Ms. Sheridan move something to Scenery Villa, I found her
emotionally unstable because of her psychological illness. I was worried that something might happen to
her since she was alone, so I stayed in the Scenery Villa.
âI thought that nothing would happen to Ms. Garcia since she stayed in Southwood Villa. I really didnât
expect that to happen.â
Vivian also explained, âYesterday, I was in a bad mood and asked Mary to stay with me in Scenery Villa.
âItâs my fault. Avery, since youâve asked Mary to do it, I should have advised her to go to Southwood Villa
to take a look. That way, Ms. Garcia would definitely be fine.â
Avery looked at them with a sullen face. âMs. Sheridan, I feel that your acting skills are better. I wonât
care about what exactly Mary wanted to do for now. It has been so long. Are you really as innocent as
you say?â
He threw the photos in his hand onto the coffee table. It showed that Mary entered the Southwood Villa
from the backyard and left.
Maryâs face turned pale. Avery turned on his phone and clicked on the surveillance

âThere were no surveillance cameras in the backyard of Southwood Villa. Mary, it must be hard for you to
go in from the backyard. Unfortunately, I installed one there two days ago.â
After he finished speaking, Avery said to Cyrus, âCall the police and bring Mary over for
investigation. She sneaked in and deliberately hid the fact that sheâs been there. I think
that she deliberately caused trouble for Darlene and made her vomit blood.â
When Mary heard that she was going to be sent to jail, she panicked Mary and said anxiously, âMr.
Gallard, you really got me wrong. Itâs not my fault that Ms. Garcia had a
heart attack.â
Avery got up and walked over. âA heart attack? I never mentioned Darleneâs illness. Mary, how did you
know?â
Mary looked at Cyrus in panic. Cyrus immediately argued, âMary, donât look at me. I
never mentioned it to you.â
