Chapter 84 Avery Has a Car Accident
After Avery left the hospital, Darlene quickly fell asleep because she had a conflict with him and the
medicine in the intravenous drip had a mild hypnotic effect.
When she fell asleep, Darlene had nightmares. She dreamed that she was pushed down from the top of
the mountain and that her child cried as it watched her. She even dreamed that she was dead, and
Reina was leaning on her bedside crying.
The nightmares were so terrible that she could not breathe. Her whole body was wet with sweat, and she
felt her forehead touch.
Darlene could not tell if it was a dream or reality, and she suddenly woke up.
When she opened her eyes, she saw the eyes of a man who was very close to her.
Darlene was really frightened. She immediately grabbed the quilt and sat up from the bed. Her forehead
slammed on Nathenâs forehead.
Nathen immediately stood up and took a step back. He said with a guilty tone,
OK?â
âAre
you
Darlene did not come to her senses for a long time. Her mind was filled with the she had just seen. She
saw a pair of eyes that were enlarged in front of her.
eyes
For some reason, she remembered that when she was taken to Lancaster by Gustave, she woke up to
see Nathen in front of her, staring at her.
Two times in a row, she was shocked by him.
She calmed down and asked curiously, âDr. Elicott, why are you here?â
Nathen was wearing a white coat and holding an electronic thermometer in his hand. âI am no longer
working in the previous hospital, and I work here now.
âMr. Dawson is in charge of the hospital. He is too busy to handle so many things, so he asked me to
help him here. What a coincidence, I met you again.â
He shook the thermometer in his hand and explained, âYou look pale, and you seem to be not sleeping
well. I was just about to check your temperature.â
Darlene remembered that Nathen had been driven out of the hospital by the Gallard family because of
her.
It was normal for him to work somewhere else.
However, he did not need to be so close to her if he just wanted to check her
temperature.
She had known Nathen for many years, and this was the first time she felt that something was wrong
with him.
Nathen smiled and asked, âI was rude. Did I scare you?â
Darlene shook her head. âItâs nothing.â
She turned her head and looked out of the window. The sky was a little gloomy. She looked at the time
on her mobile phone. It was only two oâclock in the afternoon.
A nurse came in and said anxiously, âDr. Elicott, I finally found you. At about one oâclock, the family of the
patient in bed No. 3 came to find you. But I didnât see you. They said that the situation of the patient was
worsening, and he was looking for you again.â
Nathen closed the medical record in his hand and looked at Darlene. âHave a rest. Iâll go
over first.â
âOK.â Darlene nodded.
The nurse followed him out and asked, âDr. Elicott, were you in a meeting? I didnât see
you.â
Nathen replied indifferently, âI went to the deanâs office. I have something to do.â
The nurse did not think much of it and answered with some curiosity, âDean? Isnât he
on leave today?â
Nathen walked out of the ward and continued to reply, âItâs Mr. Dudleyâs.â
The nurse nodded and wanted to ask something else.
Nathen walked out of the ward and closed the door behind him. When he reached the
corridor, he stopped and turned around to look at the nurse behind him. âMs. Vaughan, do I need to
report my whereabouts to you?â
Nora Vaughan realized that she had misspoken and quickly apologized, âSorry, Dr. Elicott, thatâs not what
I meant.â
Nathen did not reply and walked directly to the other side of the corridor. He received a photo on his
phone. It was taken at an intersection. He looked at it, but he didnât look
happy.
In the ward behind him, Darlene had just looked at the time and noticed that there were a few missed
calls on her phone. They were from Avery.
She would not call him back. She opened the notebook and continued to write the script. that she had
promised Gustave.
Not long after, another phone call came in. This time, it was from Andrew.
During this period of time, Darlene had already gotten used to being cold to Avery, but she could not be
cold to Andrew.
After all, Andrew had raised her for ten years. Even if he was not very nice to her, he didnât mistreat her.
Moreover, the two elders of the Gallard family saved her brotherâs
life.
Darlene picked up the phone and called out uncomfortably, âGrandfather.â
An angry voice came from the other end of the line. âWhere did you go? Avery was in a car accident and
called you so many times. What happened to you? Canât you see him calling you?â
Darlene thought she heard wrong. âWhat car accident?â
There was a bit of noise over there. Andrew impatiently told her the name of the. hospital and the
number of the ward. He said coldly, âHurry up and come over. He might need a transfusion. The blood in
the hospitalâs blood bank might not be safe. If you can do it, you have to transfer your blood to him.â
Darlene felt a bit cold in her heart, but she did not say much in the end.
No matter what, she had to go over first, even if she just went there to see him suffer.
But it was impossible for her to donate blood to Avery, even if Andrew asked her to.
Avery was in the same hospital as she was. And he stayed on the floor below Darleneâs
ward.
Darlene had finished her intravenous drip. She got up, put on her slippers, and went downstairs.
When she arrived outside the ward, Avery was lying inside. The door was ajar, and it was a little noisy
inside. Many people from the Gallard family came.
Darlene stood outside, and for some reason, she thought that even if the day came when he died, there
might be few people coming.
Sometimes, she envied Avery because he had such a large family. Whenever something happened, a
large group of people would come to visit him, regardless of whether they were sincere or not.
But as for Darlene, she didnât even have hypocritical relatives.
At the end of the corridor, Andrew had just finished making another call. When he came over, he called
out to Darlene from afar, âWhy are you still standing outside? Go in and take a look. Ask the doctor to
see if you can donate some blood for Avery. Youâre not in poor health, are you? So drawing blood should
be fine.â
Darlene felt that it was a little ridiculous. Her face was so pale. How could Andrew say
that she was fine?
She was silent for a moment. She did not want to resist Andrew, but she still said, âAndrew, I wonât draw
my blood.â
Andrewâs expression darkened. âWhat are you talking about? What exactly is going on with you?â
Avery heard the sound and opened the door. He walked to the door and dragged Darlene
into the room.
âThe doctor said that I didnât lose much blood. The hospital has enough stock. Donât worry, I donât need
yours.â
Darlene turned around and glanced at him. Other than the scratches on his face and the bandage on his
right hand, there were not many other injuries.
She was a little disappointed. He was less hurt than she thought.
It wasnât even called a car accident.
Avery frowned. âWhat is that look in your eyes? Do you think I was hit too lightly?â
