She wanted to talk back, but she knew better than to put up a fight with him. If she really pushed this lustful man and he did something, Blanca didnât think sheâd be able to take it.
So she went to sleep. Sheâd tired herself out throughout the day, and drifted off soon enough.
As he sensed the even breathing come from the pillowside, Matthew sighed, got out of bed, and went for a cold shower to drain the heat from his body before he went back to bed to sleep.
The following morning, Blanca and Matthew left without even eating breakfast.
Before leaving, Carrie, under Wilbertâs supervision, put on a whole show of giving Blanca a wide supplement selection.
Blanca took them all, smiling.
On the way back, Matthew drove a low-profile car. Seeing Blanca smiling happily in the front seat, he said, âIs it nice to go home?â
âOf course it is! The mansion is like a whole castle, with so many rules and so many people looking at me I didnât even dare make a pant. It was killing me.â
âYou were panting just fine, actually.â
Blanca glared at him, but she was in a fine mood, so she didnât squabble with him.
The car coasted along steadily. Maybe sheâd just gone through too much last night. Blanca fell asleep again.
It was springtime, flowers were in bloom, and there was birdsong and fragrance everywhere.
Matthew stopped the car outside the mansion and was about to remind Blanca to get off when he noticed she was asleep.
Her pale face had a hint of a smile, her long lashes left a small shadow below her eyes, her nose was small and delicate, and her pink lips spread lightly...
âMmm... are we home?â
Blanca suddenly opened her eyes. Matthew didnât look away and kept his gaze trained on her. Blanca had only just regained her senses when she felt the heat from his eyes. Realizing it was Matthew, she twitched, a little ill at ease.
âIs â Is there something on my face? Why are you looking at me like that?â
âWhat really goes through your mind, Blanca?â
âHuh?â
âNothing.â Matthew had lost his composure somewhat. He looked away and pretended he hadnât asked such a strange question. He opened the car door and walked briskly out.
Blanca scratched her head, looking confusedly at Matthew and his sudden change.
Did rich people all have such fluctuating personalities?
Well, thatâd make things difficult.
As Matthew and Blanca got in the mansion, Mrs. Brown greeted them, beaming. The two washed their hands and sat down in the dining room for breakfast.
That was a comfortable meal for Blanca. She finished, burped, and looked at Matthew across her, smiling. âArenât you supposed to go to work?â
âWhat, chasing me off?â
â...this is your house, so how am I supposed to chase you off?â
Blanca grinned like the cat whoâd swallowed the canary. She pointed at the artworks that sheâd brought back from Alan. âOld Mr. Grant gave this to me. If youâre going out to work, could you give me a lift to the mall? I want to have this framed.â
Alanâs brushstrokes were strong and powerful, yet completely natural and free-flowing.
Blanca appreciated the beauty of these artworks as well, and she wasnât about to let such a precious treasure get covered by dust in a deserted corner.
Then they went to the largest mall for art connoisseurs in Oakshire.
Blanca regretted thoroughly letting Matthew come out with her.
Her footsteps were rushed, and she just wanted to get the things over with and get back.
Then Matthew took her collar and Blanca was forced to look into his eyes.
âIs it a chore being out with me, Blanca?â
