Chapter 17
Upon returning home. I found my mother had prepared a table full of delicious dishes for me. After happily enjoying the meal with them, I walked into my room.
I preferred sleeping in this princess bed I had grown up with, rather than the marital bed in Hovilham Residence
I lay on the bed, diligently analyzing the information about Radglo Corp.âs core business that my father had handed over to me
Gordonâs dismissive words still lingered in my mind. Since I was determined to work at the company, I refused to be seen as a mere decorative presence
As I was engrossed in the documents, my phone suddenly rang
When I picked up the phone and saw âGordonâ displayed on the screen, I was so shocked that my jaw
almost dropped.
Was Gordon actually taking the initiative to call me?
I answered the phone with some suspicion and heard his slightly lazy, magnetic voice from the other end. âTavlor, where are you?â
Judging from his tone, he seemed to be back at Hovilham Residence.
âOh, didnât I tell you? Since Iâll be working soon, itâs more convenient to stay at my parentsâ place.â
âOh, playing the ambitious career woman again?â Gordon didnât miss the chance to mock and deride me.â Given your recent behavior, Iâm starting to wonder if youâve been taking some sort of masterclass or have been brainwashed by someone.â
I couldnât help but laugh bitterly inside.
Wasnât the tragic experience from my previous life enough? What masterclass could teach me more profoundly than my own firsthand experiences?
Teaching through words often failed, but lessons learned from experiences stuck after just one time.
âYou can think what you want. Youâll never approve no matter what I do or how I do it. Right, Mr. Holmes?â
I couldnât help but retort.
He sneered from the other end of the line. âTaylor, Eddie told me you called him today. Let me warn you, I donât care if you work at Radglo Corp., but donât act like my real wife and interfere with Holmes Groupâs
affairs!â
Gordonâs words really made my blood boil.
Did he think I was so eager to become his real wife? He should stop flattering himself.
I rolled my eyes a thousand times over the phone, but unfortunately, he couldnât see any of it.
Chapte 17
I laughed coldly and said, âYouâre overthinking it. I just Introduced him to a supplier, hoping to save Holmes Group some money.
âDonât worry, Iâd rather be the pampered heiress at Radglo Corp. than your wife who has to cater to your whims! You can give the position of your wife to whoever you want. Iâm more than willing to step aside!â
My tone was straightforward and firm. I had to let this arrogant man know I didnât care about his money, his power, or even him.
Gordon was enraged once again. I could even hear something shattering through the phone.
âTaylor, stop threatening me with divorce. Do you really think I care about this marriage?â
Gordonâs voice, even through the phone, made it sound like he was gritting his teeth.
Whether you care about it or not, divorce is always on the table if thatâs what you want,â I replied calmly.
In my previous life, he had always been the one to bring up divorce, Infuriating me. Now that the roles. were reversed, there was a certain unspeakable satisfaction in my heart.
âTaylor, Iâm not a chess piece for you to manipulate! If you want a divorce, Iâm not going to give you one!â
He was truly one of Sobrough Cityâs notorious tycoons. Even his logic was domineering.
I thought I could easily end this marriage by being willing to let go, but unexpectedly, he stubbornly refused to divorce. How amusing.
âWhatever, Mr. Holmes. Itâs late, Iâm going to sleep.â I casually brushed Gordon off, not caring how he would react. I had to report to Radglo Corp: early the next morning.
With that, I hung up the phone and went straight to sleep.
The next morning, I picked a white business suit from my wardrobe.
After changing into the outfit, I applied light makeup and tied my hair into a high bun. I then put on the pearl earrings my mother gave me.
I had never tried this professional style before. I bought this suit only recently.
As I looked at my elegant appearance in the mirror, I suddenly felt more confident.
Carrying my limited edition handbag, I went downstairs. My motherâs face instantly lit up with smiles when she saw me, and my fatherâs/eyes were filled with satisfaction.
Dad, who never cared much about my attire, complimented me out of the blue. âTay, with you dressed like this, you really have the style of Radglo Corp.âs successor.
âDonât compliment her too soon. Who knows how long sheâll stick with it?â
I always had a habit of not following through with things, so even Mom wasnât sure how long my determination would last this time.
Chapte/17
âMom, donât underestimate me! Iâve got Dadâs genes. Maybe Iâll turn Radglo Corp. Into a business empire in Sobrough City or even the whole world!â I said with a smile.
My words made both of my parents laugh. Mom had already prepared breakfast, so she called us to sit.
and eat.
After having breakfast with my parents, Dad and I drove to Radglo Corp. together.
When we arrived at Radglo Corpo, we saw my cousin Mona standing at the buildingâs entrance in her business attire, waiting for us respectfully.
Mona was dressed in a black business suit today, with long, dazzling diamond earrings that caught the eye. Her bold red lips and domineering vibe made it clear that she had come prepared.
Was she deliberately trying to overshadow me?
I couldnât help but sneer in my heart.
Fortunately, I had come fully prepared today. To match my business suit, I had even bought a pair of champagneâcolored high heels.
The red lipstick I used was a classic red. It wasnât as flashy as hers but still kept up the appearances.
And with features inherited from my father, I possessed a radiant and poised appearance. In both attire.
and looks, I was confident that I was not inferior to Mona in any way.
Mona still regarded me as a playful little girl. Therefore, she seemed quite surprised to see my outfit.
As usual, she affectionately took my arm when she came over. âTay, why are you dressed so professionally today? You really surprised me. I thought you were just coming to play around.â
འà½
âI have to look the part when Iâm working, right, Mona? smiled and winked at her.
âThatâs true, but thereâs not much going on at the moment. Iâve taken care of everything at the company.
âToday, you can just familiarize yourself with the companyâs operations, then you can visit the various
office areas.
âOh, by the way, Iâve made arrangements for your office. Iâll take you there later,â Mona spoke with a
hostessâ tone, smiling brightly at me.
Over the past few years, Mona had closely followed Dad, becoming familiar with every aspect of Radglo
Corp.âs operations.
As a result, many people mistakenly believed Dad was grooming her as his successor. Some even thought she was the Morgan familyâs eldest daughter.
As for me, everyone regarded me as a pampered and arrogant little girl. Additionally, I had previously shown no interest in Radglo Corp.âs business and had never interacted with its executives or shareholders.
Therefore, peopleâs impression of me was not particularly good. So, when my father fell from power, no one was willing to pay any attention to me, let alone help me.
Chaple: 17
âMona, you do your own thing I have my own plans for what I want to do. Dad, didnât you say in the car that a meeting is being held soon? Itâs getting late. Letâs go in.â
I didnât want Mona to keep bossing me around. Since I planned to work at Radglo Corp., I wanted to get into core management as soon as possible.
