Chapter 2
At that moment, I still had a powerful family supporting me, and my body was still healthy.
Gordon had never treated me well since the day I married him. After that night, he disliked me even more.
âThere wonât be a next time. Iâll move out of this house if you dare to tamper with my food again!*
Gordon crouched in front of me, and there was no hint of love in his eyes.
âGordon, Iâm your actual wife. Do you really not have any love for me at all?â
The memories from my previous life were still vivid. Looking at Gordon standing in front of me, I couldnât resist asking the question that I wanted to ask before I died.
âLove is out of your league. Do you even have the right to mention it? If your family didnât force my parents back then, do you think I wouldâve married you?â
ut two
âDid we force you? We clearly helped your family. If my dad didnât take out two billion dollars to help your family through an economic crisis, the Holmes family wouldâve been doomed, wouldnât it?â
Two years ago, the large oil field project in the central east region that the Holmes family invested in was
halted due to a war.
The whole world fell into an economic crisis at the same time. In just a month, the Holmes familyâs net
worth went down by 100 billion.
The Holmes family was in a terrible place. After I desperately begged my father, he finally agreed to take
out two billion dollars to help them through that tough time.
I also used that chance to get married into the Holmes family and achieve my dream of being Gordonâs
wife.
I was naive back then and thought Gordon would love me sooner or later if I spent every day with him.
after marriage.
However, he crushed my innocent dream with one woman after another in the next six years. In the end, his sweetheart, Sabrina, ended me entirely.
Gordon gave all his gentleness to other women and only had limitless pain for me. 1
My heart died with me when I drowned in the ocean.
In my second chance at life, I would never be that same foolish woman again.
âIf it werenât for the two billion, you would have never had the chance to marry me. You should be happy with what you have, Taylor.â
Gordon left after saying that,
âSince you hate me that much, letâs get a divorce, Gordon,â I calmly said to his back.
He stopped in his tracks. Then, I heard him give an earâpiercing sneer. He walked away in big strides and

said casually, âSure. We can do it anytime!â
After Gordon left, I struggled to get up and looked at the mirror.
In the mirror, my hair looked messy, and my gaze was blank. The drug made my cheeks bright red. The nightgown I was wearing was in pleces. My thin collarbone and arms were exposed.
Since Gordon liked thin women with long hair, I purposely stopped myself from eating and took weight. loss pills to make myself thin like this. I was five feet five inches tall but only 92 pounds.
I probably got my cancer from not taking good care of myself and the longâterm depression.
I would never do something stupid like this to harm myself just so I could please others again.
I threw all the weight control medicine in the bathroom into the trash can.
Then, I took a shower, changed into a clean nightgown, and got all the medication out of my system. After that, I turned on my computer and drafted a set of divorce papers.
Since Gordon said we could get a divorce anytime, we would do it the next day.
In my previous life, I desperately bought time and didnât want to leave. In the end, Gordon couldnât hate
me more.
In this life, I wanted to let him go as soon as possible and spare myself as well.
I didnât sleep the entire night.
When the sun rose, I opened the closet and picked out my favorite jeans and white shirt. I would never
wear it again after our divorce.
I casually tied a bow at the end of the shirt and went out with the divorce papers in my hands.
I went straight to Holmes Groupâs headquarters and took the VIP elevator that led directly to the entrance of Gordonâs office. Then, I entered after knocking on the door.
We were only married for two years at this point and were maintaining a harmonious image.
At that moment, I could walk freely in the headquarters. It hadnât gotten to the point where even the guards would look down on me yet.
Gordon sat at his large office table. When he saw me, he frowned. âWhat are you doing here?â
I looked at him, and my tone was calm. âIâve drafted the divorce papers. Take a look. You can sign it if thereâs no problem.â
A hint of surprise flashed through Gordonâs eyes. He put down the pen in his hand and smirked, saying in disdain, âWhat tricks are you playing now? Didnât you have enough fun last night?â
âIâm serious, Gordon. Since you feel nothing for me at all, we should just end it sooner. Itâs better for the both of us.â
Perhaps I had truly given up. When I said those words, I felt nothing inside.
Gordonâs face fell, and he got up immediately. He walked around his office table and stood in front of me.

Then, he grabbed my chin and glared at me to try and torment me.
âWhatâs wrong? Are you playing hard to get after your drugging plan failed? Taylor, stop your despicable tricks. I donât have time to play with you. Understood?â
After saying that, Gordon took the divorce papers on the table and shredded them into pieces in front of me. Then, he pointed at the door and yelled, âScram!â
Previously, his fierce gaze would be enough to make me succumb immediately. I wouldnât dare to say
another word.
That was why I would always compromise every time we fought in the past. I would trample my dignity repeatedly.
I was the Morgan familyâs only daughter, and my parents loved me a lot. They had been pampering me ever since I was a little girl.
However, when it came to love, I would drag my dignity through the dirt for Gordon.
I used to be afraid of Gordon mentioning a divorce. After all, I had done everything to achieve this
marriage.
However, I only wanted to leave when I looked at this cold man now. I wanted nothing to do with him. anymore, nor did I want to have any feelings for him.
âAlright. Just tell me whenever youâre ready. Weâre getting this divorce no matter what.â
After I was done speaking, I turned and left his office.
When I turned around, I heard a crisp shattering noise as he smashed a glass on the floor behind me.
