Chapter 22
Larry was pleased with my straightforwardness. He left contentedly after receiving the first payment.
I tucked the contract into my pocket and was just about to leave the private room when Gordon unexpectedly came back alone.
The room was empty except for the leftovers on the dining table.
âWhereâs Mr. Morton?â he inquired, his brow furrowed as he approached.
âHeâs already left,â I responded casually.
âDo you know what I wanted to talk to him about? And you just let him go?â Gordonâs brow furrowed
deeper, his tone icy as he pressed me for answers.
âI donât know what you wanted to talk to him about, but Iâve already finished our discussion,â I said,
crossing my arms and looking at Gordon calmly.
âWhat could you possibly have to discuss with him?â Gordon still hadnât grasped the situation.
âOf course, itâs about the rights to âDesperate Love.â Iâve successfully negotiated on Radglo Corp.âs behalf,
and our contract is already in effect.
âI know you wanted to tailor this drama for your lover, but Iâm sorry, youâll have to look for another script.â
I patted Gordon on the shoulder and shared the âexciting newsâ with him.
Gordonâs face turned visibly darker in an instant.
His gaze bore into me, filled with such intensity as if he wished to twist my head off. âWhat did you just say? Taylor, did you come here tonight to steal the deal from me?â
âCongratulations, you guessed right,â I said with a smile.
Somehow, my tastes have shifted. I found myself more and more drawn to the sight of his frustration,
âTaylor!â Gordonâs shout seemed to erupt from deep within him.
He then pushed me against the wall, seizing my chin to meet his stern gaze. âI had my sight set on this
drama.â
âAnd what of it? The contract is already signed,â I boasted, flaunting the contract in my hand.
He grabbed and tore the contract right before my eyes. âTaylor, Iâve never failed to acquire what I desire.â
âTearing it up is useless. The contract has already been recorded legally, and the first payment has been deposited into Mr. Mortonâs account. Iâm sorry to say this, but itâs effectively sealed,â I stated.
A man of his stature surely understood that a valid contract was irrevocable.
He also knew his anger was futile at this point. His eyes quickly clouded with a thick layer of darkness.
From what Iâve seen before, this was him at the brink of explosion.
Taylor, youâre the first to ever steal a deal from right under my nose all these years,â Gordon stated. Each word was uttered with a deep, menacing gravity as though it were echoing up from the depths of hell.
âWeâre husband and wife. Does it really matter who clinches the deal? What do you say?â I cheekily took. advantage of the situation and winked at him.
He clenched my collar, pulling me closer until I was forced onto my tiptoes.
Our faces were mere inches apart. We were so close I could catch the scent of his familiar cologne.
