"Do you think Connor is my mate? "
As soon as those words left Mia's mouth I was stunned. How the heck did she know? Did Connor? No I don't think so..
"Don't think about it too much. Connor hasn't spoke a word. "she said rolling her eyes. She knew me too well.
"I'm not sure but "I sighed.
"I'm not sure too. But all those signs were there earlier. "she said dropping her head on my shoulders.
"What signs? " I asked her even though I have an idea what she's talking about.
"Those signs you told me when I asked you that how you knew Ryan was your mate.Those sparks I felt when we shook hands, the way he looked at me, the way he got angry when he found out you're the one who hit me. The same pained look that Ryan gives you."She said linking our arms.
"That bad. Huh? And No.. You're wrong about Ryan. He doesn't look at me with pained look. "I said in annoyed tone.
"Seriously. You must be blind if you didn't notice it"Â she said slapping my arm.
"Ouch. Let's get back to this Connor topic shall we"I said changing the topic and she got the hint.
"I seriously can't believe my mate is a kid"
"Technically he isn't a kid. He has turned eighteen already and his wolf is fully matured. And there is something you need to know. " I said hesitating that should I tell her or not.
"What? " she asked in bored tone.
"HeisfutureAlphaking"i said without taking a break.
"What? " she asked again.
"He is future Alpha king"i said refusing to look at her. She immediately let go of my hand and stood up from sofa.
When I looked back at her,She's already looking at me with wide eyes.
" No way" She said in so low tone,if I wasn't a werewolf I would have missed it.
I nodded my head "yes" with sad smile.
"So, Before you reject him think twice about it. Because our kind needs our king.But,I never heard of human mate for an Alpha king. Yeah some werewolves do get human mates and even Alpha's but never heard of an Alpha king getting human mate" I said in concern and confusion.
"should I be worried? " she asked me in concern. She looked so pale.Her eyes just staring in distant.I can tell she's hurting inside but unfortunately she can't run away from the truth.
"Everything has a start.Right?"Â I tried to make sense but she just collapsed on sofa resting her chin in her hands. And looking at me with weird expression.And I immediately know she's gonna come up with a really bad idea.
"No" i said sternly.
"But I haven't said anything yet" she said pouting.
"I know you're going to ask for something stupid "I said narrowing my eyes at her.
"Hey.... That's not fair" she started whining.
Before I could say something I felt an intense pain in my heart. I immediately clutched my heart breathing hard. I can see Mia worried face and moving lips but I couldn't hear anything. I was trying to breathe hard. Then I have realised something... I'm not hurt then why I'm in pain. Oh no...
I looked back at Mia who is now barking orders at John and his men.i tried to steady my breathe.
I wanted to tell her "It's not me" but nothing came out. So I tried again.
"It's not me"my voice came out more as a wishper.but I know she heard me when her eyes went wide and realized what I'm trying to say. She immediately took out her phone and called someone. I closed my eyes trying to ease the pain.
"Hello. Yeah.. It's Mia. Everything's okay? "I heard her asking into phone.
"What? Oh-okay. Thanks" she hang up. I felt her sitting beside me.she immediately took me into her arms and hugged me tight in attempt to comfort me.
"He's hurt." I said hugging her back. I heard everything from other side when she talked to the Beta. He said something about rogues who tried to sneak into pack grounds.
"Let's go."she said urging me to get up.
John walked in with doctor. But Mia told him that I'm fine and doctor is not needed. John walked out with Doctor Who seemed little unhappy.
"I will go and get kids."she said kissing my temple and walked upstairs to the kids room. After few minutes she walked down with kids. They immediately run towards me.I tried to

"Papa. Are you alright? You look like you're hurt. " Ethan asked narrowing his eyes at me. I just shook my head not trusting my voice.
"we need to get going. "Mia helped me up from sofa and walked me to the front door with her arm around my waist and mine around her shoulder. She helped me to get in car with the help of John. She helped kids with car seats and got in passenger seat beside john who's driving us.
"pack house " I heard Mia saying to John.
Drive to the pack house is silent and devastating.No one said a word.
Mia looked back at me.
"you okay?" she mouthed not to worry kids who are busy staring out of window.I nodded "yes"
I don't know what I would have done if it's not for her.
"we are here" John announced. That was fast. I got out of the car and stared at the pack house in front of me. It stands tall and proud.It's White building with five storeys.It's been seven years since Iam here. Nothing changed much. Except for the new lawn and new plants in the front porch. I started running towards pack hospital which is little further away from pack house. I know Mia and John got kids. So, I didn't stop until I reach the Alpha lounge in the Hospital. I can smell him inside the ICU. I stopped in front of ICU.I looked at my parents and Noah who's comforting Ryan's parents. I looked at Connor and Henry who are little further away from the little group. I walked to them.
"How is he? " I tried to sound normal but my voice came out as a wimpher.
"It's rogues.He's not stable yet. We are sorry Alec.He got hurt while trying to protect me.The rogues were after me" Connor said in pain. He looked like he was beating up himself what has happened.
"It's not your fault. As an Alpha he must have to protect our future King."Â Ryan did what he has to. I heard footsteps and turned around to see. Mia and John with kids.
She walked up to us and engulfed me in hug.
"Oh Alec. Baby he's going to be fine" Mia tried to calm me and it somehow worked. It did ease my pain.
"You knew" Connor asked her in shock.
"Not now"she hushed him.
"Alec. What are u doing here? "My mom asked with her arms around Eva and Ethan.
"what do you think Mom? I asked her collapsing in near by chair. Eva and Ethan ran to me and hugged me on each side.
"please be Alright" I mumbled out.
I heard the door of ICU open. And I immediately got on my foot and ran towards doctor. Ryan's mom and dad beside me watching me in confusion.
"How is he? " I asked pack doctor ignoring the stares. Pack doctor looked at me in confusion too. But answered me nonetheless.
"He's not stable yet.He's not healing as fast he supposed to be. I did all I can do. but looks like he and his wolf lost hope in living. There is nothing I do" pack doctor answered with sorrow in his eyes. Of course he's in pain too. After all the man on the hospital bed is his Alpha.
Hearing that I fall on my knees.
Mia immediately collected me into her arms.
"He gave up"i wishpered hugging her tight.
"He gave up Mia"
At that moment I let out all my tears I was holding for last seven years.
