Enzo howled in agony as his skin tore open.
His complexion turned ghostly white, and he shook uncontrollably from the pain.
Caleb, however, felt that wasnât sufficient and kept whipping Enzo as a punitive measure.
I made no move to stop him.
In my eyes, Enzo had earned this; he showed no regard for werewolvesâ lives and his in the Thorn Pack had led to presence Edge already the deaths of several innocents.
Such a vampire was beyond redemption.
âAlpha!â
Just as Caleb was about to deliver another strike, a guard burst in, out of breath.
âAlpha, several pack leaders have arrived unexpectedly at our territory, claiming they need to speak with you urgently on important matters.
Theyâre requesting your immediate presence!â
Debraâs POV:
Alphas from other packs?
What was happening?
Typically, Alphas from other packs wouldnât come to visit unless it was for something important, and certainly not several at the same time.
I knit my eyebrows together and questioned, âWhat do they need with Caleb?â
The guard shook his head and said, âIâm not sure; they didnât specify.
They just insisted that our Alpha should come quickly.
Weâve set them up in the reception room for now.
â
I asked, âHave they just arrived?â
âYes.
â The guard nodded.
âWhen they entered our territory, they all seemed very distressed.
They also made it clear that you should be there too.
â
âIâm needed as well?â
This puzzled me.
It made sense for Caleb to be involved since it was a matter concerning Alphas, but why did they insist on my presence? This wasnât any sort of ceremonial gathering.
ALL I could do was turn to Caleb, hoping his expression might offer some clue.
But he appeared just as baffled.
It was evident he was just as unaware of the reason behind the Alphasâ sudden appearance.
âYes,â the guard responded.
âAlpha, Luna, I think their visit might spell trouble, or theyâre here about something grave.
Please brace yourselves before meeting them.
â
âUnderstood.
â Caleb and I both acknowledged the guard and gave him a tip.
âThank you, you can leave now.
â
With the tip received, the guard departed with a smile.
