The two guards exchanged looks and eventually nodded in agreement.
âOkay, but the dungeonâs filthy.
I hope you wonât mind, sir.
â
âNot at all.
â Still holding my hand, Caleb accompanied us to the dungeon.
The guards led the way while Caleb and I trailed behind.
After he was certain that the guards were out of earshot, he asked, âWhat trouble have you gotten yourself into this time?â
In a moment as critical as this, I didnât bother to hide anything from him, âI was the one who put Colin in the dungeon.
He hates me.
Adam wants to interrogate Colin in his office.
Colin will expose me on the spot.
â
Calebâs expression darkened instantly.
âAdam hates being deceived the most.
â
I nodded with a heavy heart.
âI know.
Once Colin tells the truth, IâLL be dead meat.
Adam wonât let me go! Caleb, you have to help me!â
Caleb asked without hesitation, âHow can I help?â

Caleb stared at me intently, waiting for my answer.
It seemed that he would do anything I told him to do.
This kind of unconditional support moved me beyond words.
It was strange.
Perhaps it was because Caleb was the mate chosen for me by Moon Goddess.
At such a dangerous moment, I chose to believe him instinctively.
I peeked at the security guards from the corner of my eye to make sure that they were not paying attention to us.
Then I approached Caleb, pretended to help him tidy up his tie and whispered my plan to him.
âThatâs a sound plan.
But why didnât you take me with you when you took revenge on Colin?â
My brows scrunched up in confusion.
âWhy would I?â
âBecause it was the two of us who were tricked by Colin,â Caleb answered.
âWe could have been together long ago if it werenât for his interference.
â
Caleb lowered his head and approached me.
Suddenly, all I could smell was his scent.
âDebra, Iâve thought of you frequently in the past five years?â
His voice was low and hoarse.
When he spoke, his Lips were very close to my ear.
He was so close I could feel his warm breath on my face.
My face turned red and my heart beat fast.
It was all I could do to resist falling into his arms.
How could I still be attracted to him at such a dangerous time?
I couldnât help but feel a little annoyed with myself.
I reached out and pushed him in the hopes that distance from him would wake up the rational part of my brain.
âWhatâs wrong with you two? Hurry up.
Follow closely!â one of the guards urged impatiently.
