Whether it was true or not, I knew I had to get out of there fast for my own safety.
I was trying to slip away while the waiter was guiding me, but he caught on and turned around, still smiling, and asked, âWhere are you going? Arenât you heading to the spare room to change?â
His smile was bright, but it gave me the creepy vibe.
My heart started racing like crazy.
Thumpâ¦
Debraâs POV:
A feeling of danger hovered around me, and I felt like I couldnât breathe.
Fear pushed me to take a step back without even thinking.
Looking worried, Ivy said urgently, âHoney, somethingâs not right.
Run!â
I said helplessly, âI wish I could, but just look at me.
â
In my fancy dress and high heels, how could I possibly outrun a fit waiter?
Trying to calm down, I took a deep breath.
The situation hadnât gotten as bad as it could, at least the waiter didnât know I had figured something was off.
I managed to force a smile and came up with an excuse.
âIâm sorry, I need to use the restroom.
Iâll come back later to deal with the stain.
â
As I turned to leave, the waiterâs hand stopped me like a judgeâs gavel, sudden and final.
âThereâs a restroom in the back room.
Itâll be quicker for you if youâre in a hurry,â he said casually.
I froze in place.
His smile made me want to step back.
But no, I couldnât just give up!
Frantically, I kept lying, âI just remembered, I have to find Andrew.
I left my lipstick with him and I need it for touch-ups.
â
Still smiling, the waiter replied, âNo problem.
Once youâre in, Iâll let Mr.
Pierce know right away, and he can bring it to you himself.
â
âWellâ¦â I struggled to find the right words, not expecting him to be so convincing.
As I tried to think of a way out, the waiterâs smile faded, his face turning serious.
âIt seems youâve caught on.
â
My heart raced.
Damn it.
