âOkay, Iâll go get it,â I said with a smile, pinching his nose playfully.
âYouâre the best!â Luca was so excited that he jumped up and down, giggling happily.
After shooting him one last smile, I turned around and hurried upstairs.
I soon found Adamâs study since I came here the last time.
After entering the study, I closed the door behind me and looked around.
Hanging on the wall by the window was an oil painting of Luca
Thinking of the clue Emily had told me previously, my heart started to race in my chest.
Perhaps this oil painting was the key to opening the secret chamber.
I stretched out my hand and tried to turn the oil painting.
Sure enough, as the painting was turned, the door to the secret chamber slowly opened.
I poked my head in and looked around, completely dumbfounded.
The Light in the secret chamber was much dimmer than the study outside, but it was enough for me to make out a large desk and a white board.
There was a thick stack of documents piled up on the desk, but I couldnât see its contents because it was too dark.
So this was the place where Adam kept all his secrets.
I took a deep breath, bracing myself before walking in.
Just then, I heard Lucaâs childish voice coming from outside.
âDaddy, youâre home!â
I froze as though I had just been struck by lightning.
Why was Adam home all of a sudden? Didnât he have a party to go to?
I was so flustered that my mind went completely blank.

I could hear Adamâs heavy footsteps approaching fast, leaving me no time to think.
My eyes darted all over the room, trying to come up with an escape plan as Adam drew nearer and nearer.
It seemed that he was going straight to the study.
Debraâs POV:
I couldnât stand here and do nothing anymore.
Although I was only one step away from getting to a goldmine of confidential information, my top priority was to protect myself.
I immediately shut the door to the secret chamber and slipped out of the study.
