Caleb held my hand.
âDonât worry.
Rolly was a special case.
Few people are as fanatical as him.
Most of the Thorn Edge Packâs members still believe that you helped resolve the crisis in the foggy forest with the Alpha, making you a brave Luna.
They all have a very high opinion of you.
â
I relaxed a little.
The situation was much better than I had assumed it to be.
When I saved Caleb, I was prepared to be exiled from the Thorn Edge Pack.
I never imagined that I would get the chance to continue staying in this pack safely.
This was a good result.
âStop worrying, Debra.
No matter what difficulties we run into in the future, I wonât abandon you.
We will always get through them together,â he promised me seriously as he wrapped his arms around me.
I felt the warmth of his embrace in the deepest corners of my heart.
âOkay.
I wonât leave you.
Never,â I responded with a smile.
I truly didnât want to live through the pain of losing my mate a second time.
Debraâs POV:
After resting for an entire day, I couldnât stay in bed anymore.
My mind kept dwelling on my kids.
So I said to Caleb, âI miss the kids.
Can I meet them? I havenât seen them in so long.
â
Caleb fixed his gaze on me and said hesitantly, âThe kids donât know about what happened to us.
If you want to meet them, you will have to go home.
But are up to it now?â
I blurted out, âI am!â
After wavering for a while, he announced, âThen stand up and walk.
â
I lifted the blanket and got out of bed.
However, the reality was different from what I had imagined.
Because I was yet to recover my energy, I only managed two steps before I lost my balance and almost went crashing to the floor.
âBe careful!â
Caleb rushed to support me.
Melany happened to come in at this moment.
Seeing me in this state, she dashed to me and assisted Caleb in helping me up.
After settling me back in bed, she asked in a concerned voice, âHow are you feeling, Debra?â
I replied feebly, âI feel exhausted.
My whole body feels worn out and weak.
I donât have any strength.
â
Melany examined me.
But soon, her eyebrows furrowed.
âDebra, you havenât recovered yet.
You should only be focusing on resting now.
â
Then she turned her attention to Caleb and said, âCaleb, letâs go out and give Debra some space to rest.
â
Caleb was unwilling.
âIt doesnât matter if I accompany her here, does it?â
âYou canât stay,â Melany replied firmly.
âIf youâre here, she will be affected.
Let her stay alone.
If you really want to accompany her, you can come in quietly after she falls asleep.
