Standing in front of our new house, I sighed before opening the door because after opening the door I would be showered with a bucket full of questions. I inserted my keys and entered the house, there were many boxes left to unpack.
Unpacking. The worst part of moving.
I made my way through the boxes and found my mom in the kitchen; she was sitting between boxes; removing everything and placing it neatly.
She looked up and gave me a warm, comforting smile. âHow was the day sweetheart? Made any new friends? Are they treating you nicely? How are the teachers?â I sighed while she continued, raising her eyebrows, âAre there any good-looking boys?â
See! Bucket full of questions. But one question that I registered was âAre there any hot boys?â and guess who I thought about? Ethan. The more I try to run away from him, the more space he is trying to make in my mind.
âMom, one question at a time, please? Oh! Oh! You wonât believe who I met today!â I said happily.
She replied with curiosity, âWho?â
I rolled my eyes and replied with a high-pitched girly voice, âErica! I actually met her!â
Her eyes widened with surprise, âErica Wilson?â
I grinned at her, âYes!â
She got up from the floor and placed her hands on my shoulders, âIâm glad you know someone here. I was really worried that you would hate it here and then be angry with me.â
I smiled at my motherâs concern and said, âItâs alright mom. How can I ever be angry with you?â
She pulled me in for a hug and when we parted I told her that I had a lot of work to do and went upstairs to freshen up.
Entering my room, I decided to start unpacking. I went downstairs to get some boxes back up. Tying my hair in a high ponytail, I bent down to pick a box which had the initial âAâ on it.
Grunting, I started dragging the box towards the stairs, how on earth was I going to take this upstairs? Mom picked the box up from the free side and I gave her a small smile. Slowly, we started climbing the stairs; looking behind me to make sure not to trip.
âIf you need any help, Iâll be down in the kitchen,â mom said and started walking down the stairs, massaging her back.

After three hours of unpacking, all I had properly was set up was my closet, the clothes neatly hanged on the rod and T-shirts and shorts folded and arranged on the shelf. Satisfied, I lied down on my bed and exhaled loudly through my nose. My phone rang, startling me, I didnât give my number to anyone.
âSup Ash?â I heard Erica exclaim.
âHow did you get my number?â I asked, confused.
I heard her exhale her breath, âAbby gave it to me.â
âAnd where did Abby get it from?â I asked lifting my legs in the air and letting them fall back down with a soft thud.
âI donât know, go ask her,â she responded. âWell, Iâm really bored. You want to come over? We could have a movie marathon!â
âI donât know,â I said, looking around my room. âI have a lot to unpack. Iâve got to study too.â
âAw!â she cooed sadly. âPlease try coming! Pretty please! You can get your books here if you want to.â
I chuckled softly. âFine, text me your address.â
âOkay!â she said happily.
âMom,â I yelled, walking down the stairs.
âYes?â she asked loudly.
âCan I go over to Ericaâs?â I asked.
âYou can,â she replied with a smile.
I rolled my eyes and asked, âMay I go to Ericaâs house?â
âI donât mind but you need to get a ride back, I have some office work to deal with,â she said.
âOkay! I guess Erica could drop me or I could get a cab,â I replied, biting my nail.
âGo get dressed,â she ordered and I walked up the stairs to pull over shorts and a baggy T-shirt.

I read the text Erica had sent me and re-checked the house number. They matched; I stepped in front of the door and rang the doorbell. As soon as I did so, realization hit me. Ethan is her brother, he must be here too! Oh my God. Why was I so dumb? I had no interest in facing him again after the awkward, flirty exchange in Chemistry. I wanted to turn around and walk away this instant but the door opened and I found myself face-to-face with Ethan Wilson.
The corners of his mouth twitched up and I groaned inwardly. He was wearing a scarlet coloured shirt, making his skin glow brighter.
âLook, I know you canât resist me but that doesnât mean you show up on my front door, behaving like a psychotic stalker,â he said, leaning against the door.
I smacked his arm, making him wince a bit.
Making my way inside, I said, âIâm here to meet Erica.â
He gave me a childish look and said, âYou sure do know how to break a boyâs heart.â
I scowled at him and opened my mouth to ask where Erica but was cut off by an excited voice yelling my name.
I turned and saw Erica looking at me with lovely blue eyes, standing at the stairs. I smiled at her.
She came down and stood next to me. There was an awkward silence between us and then I cleared my throat and said, âSo? What movies are we going to watch?â
Ethan was the one who answered instead of her, âOh! You guys going to watch some girly movies like Titanic?â
Erica groaned and ignored him and starting walking up the stairs and pulled me with her. We reached the top of the stairs and entered a completely purple room. My eyes took some time to adjust to my bright surroundings.
Purple was still her favourite colour, she hasnât changed at all. She jumped on her bed and asked to me sit by her. I walked and sat on the bed.
âI was planning we watch The Notebook!â she squealed.
I rolled my eyes, she just proved Ethanâs point right. I was still thinking about Ethan, great.
âWe should definitely watch that movie!â I replied, trying to match her excitement.

I rubbed my eyes and yawned. I was hungry, the popcorn wasnât enough. âHey Iâm hungry. Go get me something to eat, you lazy ass.â
She glared at me and replied, âLike you said, Iâm a lazy ass, so Iâm not going. Go get yourself food, downstairs in the kitchen.â
I groaned and got off the bed.
While walking down the stairs, I inhaled my breath sharply seeing Ethan sitting on the couch, shirtless and breathing hard. He was sweating; he must have been out, playing some sport.
I tried to ignore him and continued walking to the kitchen. He must have notice me and he got off the couch and I really wished he wasnât coming to talk to me but unfortunately my wishes never come true.
Before I knew it, he was beside me. I really wanted to throw a shirt at him and ask him to wear it because those sexy abs were bothering me. A lot.
I continued walking towards and stopped, âWhy are you following me?â I asked in an annoyed voice.
He smirked, âAs you can see I am sweaty and tired. This guy here needs food to survive.â
I rolled my eyes and started opening cabinets and shelves in search of some sort of junk food. After opening two cabinets and failing, I frowned and looked at Ethan for help. He was leaning against the wall with his hands crossed over his chest. He smirked at me and walked towards me. âWhat do you want?â
I thought for a second and replied exhausted, âI donât know! Anything! Chips! Cookies! Anything.â
Smiling, he bent and opened a cabinet. He got up with a packet of chips in his right hand and a packet of gummy bears in his left hand.
Handing them to me; he asked, âIs there anything else you want?â
"Yup! Put on a shirt,â I stuck out my tongue and started walking towards the stairs.
Ethan's POV
I silently laughed to myself as she hurried up the stairs like a little girl with excitement. Her glowing green eyes, her smooth red lips, the light shade of pink on her face made her look quite different from other girls.
I looked back at her intently and locked her eyes with mine. I smiled at her and she smiled back. She rushed into my sisterâs room. I sighed and went to my room to take a shower.
Wiping my hair with a towel, I was going through the messages in my phone. I sighed and plopped down on my bed with my guitar. I started playing the song I had been trying to learn for a while now. I really did want to do become a musician. I wouldnât mind teaching music or composing music for someone or becoming a professional artist myself. My parentâs idea of a successful career was totally different. I placed my guitar back on the stand and went to the balcony in my room. After standing there for a while I was about to walk out but I stayed because I saw someone walk into my sisterâs balcony.
It was Ashley, she had some gummy bears in her hand and was chewing on them happily.
I turned to leave but she turned to her right and saw me. She smiled and waved, âWhat are you doing?â she asked me.
âWhat does it look like Iâm doing?â I asked her with a smile.
The smile from her face vanished and was now, replaced with a scowl, âIf I knew what you were doing, I wouldnât ask you, idiot.â
I smiled without wanting to, âFair enough.â
She opened her mouth to say something but Erica walked into the balcony. She looked at me and then at Ash with raised eyebrows.
âDid I just interrupt something?â she asked.
Ash turned towards her chewing on her gummy bears and said âNah, I was just talking to him.â
âOh,â Erica replied, grabbing a red gummy bear from Ashleyâs hand. Ashley frowned while Erica ignored her.
I heard my phone ring and went inside to grab it, leaving the two girls alone who seemed to engaged in a deep conversation.
Seeing Jaredâs name flash on the screen, I answered.
âSup bro?â Jared asked.
âNothing much,â I said leaning against the wall.
âTodayâs match was pretty rough. We killed it,â he said maintaining his cool attitude.
I agreed.
âYou know that new girl? That chick? Ashley? Sheâs in our Chemistry class,â he asked
âYeah,â I replied slowly. âWhy?â
âShe is hot,â he stated.
Sighing, I shook my head. Typical Jared. He sees a girl, he likes her, and he dates her and then breaks her heart. He was a good friend but not the guy kind of guy who believes in commitment.
âHello?â he asked snapping me out of my thoughts.
âHm, yeah, sheâs quite good-looking,â I replied, carefully arranging my words.
âGood-looking? Just good-looking? What happened to your taste?â he asked.
âNothing,â I said closing my eyes.
âOkay,â he said slowly. âGot to go, catch you later.â And with that, he hung up on me.
