190âSarcficing My Life For Her
Christina! No!â I yelled when she disappeared into the field. I tried following her but it was not easy. The
wind was constantly changing its direction and making it hard for me to locate my direction. Soon, we
had all separated.
âFUCK!â I grunted, I knew I shouldnât have let her come with me.
âItâs okay. We can do this,â Thankfully, I wasnât alone. Since I havenât lost my mind, my wolf was still
present with me.
âARGHHHH!â the bloodâcurdling cry belonged to Willow. My heart skipped a beat inside my chest
when I got the idea I donât have time to sulk.
Whatever had lured us in was not going to rest until it ends us. The fields seemed evil and the creature
of the fields was manipulative,
We have only one option left,âI told Nia so that she can be prepared to heal me if I need it.
âMagic will do wonders but once you are weak, even I cannot transition,â she told me beforehand so
that I donât rely too much on her.
âUgh!âI grunted a complaint.
âChristina? Enya!â a familiar voice jolted me awake to my surroundings. I realized it was Maynard. He
must have followed us into the fields, why?
âOh God! can people stop coming into the fields?â | groaned, not very sure if it truly was Maynard or if
the field was playing with me.
My questions were answered when Maynard suddenly appeared in front of me. We both almost let out
a shriek of fear when we came face to face.
âEnya!â he let out a sigh of relief when watching me, âWait! Where is Christina?â he followed his sigh
with a question. Definitely, she was not with me and he can see that.
âSheâ umm, the field manipulated her into running till she disappeared,â I replied, I noticed he didnât
look very happy. I wasnât happy either. She came here because she thought I would be too weak to
come here all alone. I
should have protected her well.
âWhat do you mean? How are you so casually saying it?â Maynard growled,
We were getting scratched by the fields as if they had claws. The wind was making hearing difficult too.
âLook! I tried to stop her but she was not listening to me,â I told him that I didnât just stand here and
watched her go missing
âYou didnât try harder. We all know you are powerful enough to do whatever you want. If only you truly
wanted to keep her safe, she would be here right now,â He was shouting at me and bending ahead at
me.
âRight! I will find her,â I yelled back in exhaustion.
âYou will not. I know you would rather want her gone,â the way he said it and jerked his shoulders
triggered me. Why did he come into the fields? He is only raising my anxiety now.
âPlease do tell me why would that be?â I said, breathing profusely as I was losing my calm over his
words.
âHuh! I donât want to waste my time on this argument. Do your magic and find her,â he ordered, making
me close my eyes and make tight fists out of my hands.
âYou donât need to tell me what I should and should not do. I am going to find her, I told you,â I said as I
opened my eyes and took deep breaths in.
âThere is only one way to find her. Find her with your magic because without that, I am more powerful
than you. If
you are too high and graceful to use your precious magic on Christina then fuck off, I will find her my
way,â he waved his hand at me to dismiss me while trying to look around to see where to start.
âBy the way, you were the one who wanted to come here and she came here for you. If anything
happens to her, it is on you,â he said without looking at me this time.
I was beyond angry and disappointed. But who was I expecting any humanity from? He wouldnât give a
fuck if I use my magic and die here. But he did make me feel guilty for losing Christina.
He was looking around when he turned to me and found me slowly getting ready to do the magic.
I closed my eyes and inhaled a fistful of the fieldsâ air, getting familiar with the scent of the corn and the
creepiness.
âChristina!â I whispered when everything turned silent, âWhere are you?â I asked as I moved my hands
around. When I opened my eyes, I found my body facing the opposite direction of where I was standing
before.
âShe is there,â i gasped, shaking in my body as I forced the field to rip open and clear the way to her.
âOkay! Letâs go,â Maynard mumbled,
âNo! I caân only hold it open for a few seconds, you need to hurry up.â I replied to him without using
much energy. I had to save as much energy as I could to use the magic.
âBut what about you?â Maynard asked and my body twitched a little.
âI will find you two, go! She is in danger.â I lied.
She was actually wandering around cluelessly, I just didnât want Maynard to show this fake care about
me. Once he heard she was in trouble, he sped into the open field to look for her. I was able to follow
him with my vision and then I found him reaching her.
It was then my magic broke and I landed on my knees.
âARGHH!â I whimpered, feeling the blood rushing out of my nose and falling into the field.
âAhh! I knew you were special. Your scent is too precious,â
The creature from the field spoke up.
âSpill more blood, it tastes so good,â his whisper fell right into my eardrum and I crawled back on my
butt.
âYou cannot get me,â I muttered under my clenched jaw.
âNobody wants you. You and all the unwanted souls belong in the field,â
I heard him talk smoothly to me.
âCome! Come to me and I will give you a reason to be happy.â His words began to make sense.
Because I was much weaker than when I entered the fields.
