Chapter 353
2 vow. Tv Thave been searching for Thiago on my own for days, but there were no signs of him. He
seemed to have vanished from the face of the earth.
I was beginning to feel like he was somewhere around and knew I was looking for him, but then again,
he would have come out at least. I couldnât locate him either. Even when trying to locate his scent.
âI am going to miss you guys.â Christina was able to break my attention from the empty wall I had been
staring at while waiting for Maynard to come to the room. His punishment was finally over, so he had
left to speak to the principal about Christina. Since he was an alpha mate of hers, he could literally help
her out.
âAre you excited about meeting his pack members?â Lazio asked, standing on my right side and talking
to Christina on my left.
âI am. But I am also nervous because he is finally going to speak to his mother. I am worried about
what will happen when we arrive there.â She pouted, playing with her fingers nervously.
âIt will all be fine. And if anything happens, call me. I will be there to fight them for you.â Lazlo smiled at
her, comforting her with his innocent and genuine smile. âEverything will be fine. Once she gets the
punishment, you will be able to live there peacefully,â I reassured her, and thatâs when I noticed Lazlo
eyeing me to not scare her.
âI will go see where he is.â Christina walked out of the room to check up on Maynard, so I decided to
speak to Lazlo.
âI wasnât scaring her.â I rolled my eyes.
âBut donât say things like she will suffer if his mother doesnât get punished,â Lazlo complained, leaving
my side and checking their bags.
âThis wasnât my intention, but okay.â I turned my face toward the other side of him. Lately, he has been
acting super weird toward me. It wasnât something too extreme, but the little things were worrisome.
For example, he would always talk as if I could not feel pain.
âI know. But she is a bit too fragile and innocent. That silly girl takes things way too seriously.â He shook
his head when talking about Christina, and my heart crumbled a bit. I wasnât jealous or anything, but I
was a little uncomfortable.
âHere they come,â Lazlo announced when Maynard and Christina walked into the room hand in hand. It
was pretty obvious from the smiles they were giving me that they were extremely happy.
âI am leaving with him.â She clapped her hands, and Lazio jumped on Maynard to hug him.
âI am so happy for you.â I took a step forward and hugged her tightly. While patting her back, I saw
Maynard watching me behind Lazloâs back. I stole eyes from him. We havenât talked again since that
night. I was sort of relieved that they were leaving before Lazlo or Christina noticed the awkwardness
between us and concluded it was not because of the diary issue.
âLet me grab your bags and help you out,â Lazlo voiced happily as he snatched the bags out of
Maynardâs hands.
âHey, I can carry my bag,â Christina pouted, and she picked up the very small handbag, making Lazlo
smile at her as if it were the most innocent act.
I had no animosity toward her. In fact, she had taken my side more than anyone else in the room. It
was just the comparison Lazlo would make that made me uncomfortable at times. As the two walked
out of the room before us, I watched Maynard look around and stand tall in silence.
âI heard you are going back and putting your mother on trial,â I said, taking deep breaths as it was
pretty awkward watching him act all suspicious.
âAre you coming with us?â he asked, and my eyes bugged out of their sockets. âI mean, with Lazlo?â he
corrected himself.
âI will need some strength and support,â he added, and I couldnât help but nod at his invitation.
âWe will be there beside you,â I promised.
âI know I cannot ask much, but can I at least get a hug?â He stepped closer, and I automatically
stepped back. It took me a second to realize I didnât have to because he wasnât planning anything else.
âSure,â I sounded absent.
I was just not ready to be friendly with him again. I feared giving him any hints that would make him feel
some sort of way about me.
He stepped forward and wrapped his arms around my body like I was a plastic doll. His scent was
amazing, but it didnât
seem familiar. It had been too long since we felt that way toward each other. At least I didnât. I was over
that phase where I was picking and selecting mates.
âI am going to miss you the most,â I felt his breath fan against my neck as he whispered and buried his
face, âI am never going to stop loving you.â It was then that my eyes jumped out and I pushed him
away. Not too aggressively, but playfully.
âCome on, now is not the time to joke about anything. Your fiancé is waiting for you outside,â I said,
trying to look around and not at his eyes. The way he would stare at me and not move a muscle would
make me feel really uneasy at times.
âWell, then! it is a goodbye for now.â He took a few steps backward and then finally turned around to
leave. Now that I was the only one left in the room, I couldnât help but recall the very first day of my
arrival.
âHe was standing all wet with only a towel wrapped around his waist. Things were so different back
then. We didnât have powers, yet we didnât feel so miserable,â Nia whispered, making me realize how
much has changed during that one year and a few months.
And soon Lazlo would be gone too,â she added.
âBut we will stop missing the day Thiago left.â
She was right. He took something of mine with him. I just had to sit down and deal with the pain.
