411 -Who Is The Cheater?
âEnya! what the fuck happened?â Maynard rushed, but before he could reach
me, Lazio pushed him aside as he bolted in my direction and knelt down in front
of me. No words were spoken when he grabbed my arm and helped me
straighten up while I kept sitting on the floor.
âWhat happened?* Lazio cupped my face in his hands, but his eyes betrayed his
actions. There was concern in them, but not with the intensity with which he
pushed Maynard aside.
I couldnât understand anything, not even myself. I couldnât comprehend why I
was noticing everything. Why not just appreciate him for now?
Why had it become so hard to get a tiny bit of his attention?
âCoârbin!â I stammered in sobs, trying to clean my face as the fresh blood kept
entering my mouth.
âWhat? he hit you?â Maynard asked, raising his voice to express his anger
towards the situation. I raised my face and nodded blankly before Lazio helped
me get up on my feet.
*I need to first take care of her wounds, and then we can talk about what to do.*
Lazio wrapped his arm around my body and helped me walk to the bedroom.
Maynard and Christina followed us to help Lazio.
âIt is okay, guys, I can take care of her,â Lazio instantly excused himself when he
watched Christina staring at Maynard, who was too busy getting infuriated with
Corbin.
*I think they need time alone.â Christina understood what Lazio wanted, but
since Maynard refused to listen, she had to gently nudge his elbow and make
him follow her. After the two left, Lazio brought the aid box to the bed and sat
down with me.
âIs it because of the rejection?â he asked, cleaning my wound. Now that I was in
the comfort of my own home, I recalled the pain I felt when he hit me, and it
made me teary-eyed again. I couldnât forget the anger I felt at that time.
If only I had my powers, I would have beaten the fuck out of him.
âHey! donât cry,â Lazio pushed the aid aside and wrapped his arms around me to
give me a shoulder to cry on. I was about to sob on his chest when I felt
something odd about his cologne.
He smelled different.
Pulling away from him, I frowned at him. His brow furrowed before he tilted his
head to look me in the eyes and ask what happened.
âYou smeâII different,â I said.
âWhat do you mean?â He let out a little uncomfortable laugh before attempting to
clean my injuries again.
âYou smelt likeâ,â I paused, forcing myself to remember where I have smelt this
scent before. It wasnât too long before I remembered whose scent he had on
him.
âYou smell like Valerie!â I pulled away when I gasped at my own words. The look
of shock on his face was enough to tell me he didnât expect me to find out.
âWhat? thatâs nonsense, let me clean yoâ,â he looked pretty annoyed when
attempting to come closer but stopped when I showed him my palm.
âNo! why do you smell like her?â I raised my voice as I questioned him. I
remembered her scent from earlier, when she came too close to snatch the files
out of my hands. Thatâs when I sensed her smell, and now he was smelling like
her.
The funny thing was that he wasnât in his office suit, so he couldnât lie about
giving her his coat and taking it back, hence ending up smelling like her. It was a
white shirt that he had worn yesterday, too, when he went out clubbing with
Maynard and Christina.
âSeriously? That is what you are focused on?â He dropped the bloodied cotton
on the bed and scoffed loudly at me.
âYou didnât respond,â I insisted on knowing the truth.
It was only now that I remembered Maynardâs words from earlier. If Lazio wasnât
happy, he needed to tell me.
Because there is no answer. I donât know why you can smell her scent on me,
but I know for a fact that it is not true. You donât even have a wolf to tell you that.
You are just making it up to take your anger out on someone since you couldnât
do that to Corbin when he beat your ass.â He got out of bed and slammed the
aid box on the floor out of anger.
âI donât need a wolf to tell you that I am smelling her perfume on you,â I yelled,
but the volume was down when he immediately turned around to wave his
finger in my face.
âShut up! Donât raise your fucking voice at me. I am not a cheater here. That is a
disgusting act in a relationship. If I am going to sleep with anyone, I will let you
know. I will not keep you in dark and go around to fuck âothers,â he cringed at
the mention of sleeping with others.
âI donât understand what is going on with you, Enya. But you were the one who
changed. You are barely yourself,â he said, stepping away from the bed when
complaining about my behavior, âYou always act like you are not even here.â He
continued to complain, but I wasnât having it.
I wasnât the one who started it.
âWhen I was being myself, you told me to look at myself and act better. You
always complain about everything I did,â I started explaining the early days of
our marriage to him. I was distraught at losing Thiago, but I kept my mood good
with Lazio. I was too afraid of mistreating him, so I never even expressed my
sadness to him.
He made me change everything that made me Enya, and now heâs
complaining?
âYou just love to put the blame on me,â he scoffed and waved his hand at me.
âNo! I donât. It is true. I didnât change. You changed me,â I said in a whisper, and
his muscles tightened a little.
âClean your wounds. Donât come out looking all bloody. I donât want them to feel
uncomfortable,â he reacted the way he always does, leaving the argument
without reaching a solution.
