422-He Said, He Will Returnâ
âSo you f**king played me.â I bobbed my head, laughing hysterically.
âEnya! Itâs not like that,â Maynard said quietly, even though he knew heâd been caught. There was no
reason for him to lie to me anymore, yet he went so far as to lie in front of Christina.
âDonât f**king lie to my face now. You knew my life was already hard. I had been suffering, and you
came over to stroke your ego.â I yelled, feeling my heart pulsating hard.
âI diâdnât mean to,â He uttered, lowering his head in guilt, but that wouldnât do anything for me.
âAnd you! You knew I didnât try to steal him from you. You entered my pack and said all the right things
to fool me. You knew right when you looked into my empty eyes that I needed a friend, so you offered
me your hand just to grab me and drag me through mud,â I shouted, tears falling down my eyes and
blurring my vision.
âOh, cut the c*ap! Thatâs so typical of you, Enya. The typical victim complex! You two kissed that night. I
was running around doing everything to prove my loyalty to you guys while you were tongue-kissing
behind my back. If anything, you owe me an apology,â she yelled, shaking in anger when remembering
the video that I had forgotten about long ago.
âThat night was a mistake. He kissed me, but I pulled away from him. I told him I was not going to do
this to you or Lazlo.â I said it in coherent words: âAsk him! He will tell you the truth.â I walked up to
Maynard and slapped him on his chest, breaking down before him.
âI told her many times that I wanted to pursue you,â Maynard finally spoke up, but it didnât matter
anymore.
âYou didnât say that in front of Lazlo, though,â I scoffed. âYou two played me well,â I said, shaking and
sobbing in front of my biggest enemies.
âYou are not innocent, Enya. You and your mother are the* worst, like a virus,â Christina muttered.
âSo stop acting like you are this sad victim here,â she said, refusing to believe me.
âIâm not a victim, and neither do I claim to. But what a friend you are. You all f**king played me,â I
repeated myself, but she looked pretty adamant and confident about her actions. There was no regret
on her face when she rolled her eyes at me.
It was then that Lazlo walked into the room with a tired look on his face.
âYour parents keep calling me and asking me to bring you for dinner,â he said, having his phone in his
hands when he informed me of the invitation from my so-called family. I have asked him many times
not to refer to them as my parents, but now I am beginning to think he did it on purpose to pi*s me off.â
âTell them we are not coming,â I uttered, defeatedly. Raising my voice in front of a group of people that
hated me was awkward.
âWe are going.â Lazloâs declaration made me look his way.
âI am not getting into trouble because of you anymore. If we donât go, they will tell everyone that I am
stopping them from meeting you,â he yelled even louder when our eyes connected.
âI will tell the world or whoever questions you that I didnât want to meet them.â I said, helping him out of
this situation, but he shook his head at me.
âNo! I donât even want that kind of attention. Just silently attend the dinner and be over with it,â he
muttered, and a scoff from Christinaâs lips compelled me to clench my jaw.
I felt strange among these people. It was as if those years at the academy had never happened. I donât
know how I never caught on to their personalities, but it was indeed true. When you lose your powers,
you can see the true colour of your friends.
Since Lazlo was the alpha of the pack and I couldnât deny him, I closed my eyes tightly and nodded.
âTonight!â he said. âWe are going for dinner tonight,â he then added, and I reluctantly walked out of the
room to get ready.
So much happened in the past few hours that my brain failed to process every little thing properly.
All I could focus on was trying to somehow get rid of this headache. I sat on the bed, massaging my
temples, when Lazlo walked out of the bathroom.
âGet ready; we donât have time,â he said in a dry tone.
âMy head hurts. Canât we delay this dinner?â I requested.
âSo that you can sleep with Maynard at home? No! get ready.
donât be a brat,â his comment made me raise my face and glare at him as he styled his hair.
âDonât accuse me of something you suggested we should do,â I commented, grabbing the black dress
and walking in the direction of the bathroom.
âHuh! I didnât suggest you sleep with my friend or your friendâ s mate,â he commented with a scoff, but I
didnât plan to stay there and argue with him.
Once in the bathroom, I wrapped my fingers around the sink and cried silently.
âI need to get away from all these people,â I whispered in tears. âEscape is the only way to leave these
a**holes behind,â I muttered.
âWith or without a wolf, I will manage to survive in the wild,â I whimpered as I sobbed, biting my bottom
lip and making sure I didnât make a noise.
So there was the plan.
âI am going to leave this place and this country. I will find a way to start over, but alone. I donât want to
surround myself with these people who betrayed me, wrecked me, and left me broken. I am going to
find a way to run away from here and from my mates,â I said, taking in heavy breaths and preparing my
next move.
Once this dinner ends, I can try to look for a way to cross the border and leave the country.
I cried a little and then took a shower to get ready for this
cursed dinner. The moment I finished showering and grabbed the dress, I noticed something falling off.
It was Thiagoâs letter. I never read the letter he wrote for me because I lacked the courage to do so.
While holding the piece of paper, I felt like I needed this more than anything. So I finally decided to read
it for my m*ntal peace.
âMy dear Enya!â I smiled, âI know you must be angry with me for running away, but trust me, it hurt me
as much as it is hurting you. I have to let my Lycan take over for you. He is much more powerful; he
can do things that a human or a regular wolf cannot. I am worried about your safety. I donât want you to
sacrifice yourself for me because your mother did something. Nothing is your fault. And donât think I
donât know how messy Lazlo is. I realized I could not trust anyone with you after I saw how easily
others were able to manipulate him and Maynard against you. So, my love! No matter what happens to
me in a few days, I assure you that your Thiago will return. I have to. I cannot leave you behind with
these messy people. My precious Enya doesnât need a cage full of cold. She will fly, and I will make
sure I follow her on the ground while she is enjoying her life. I have found a way to fix our problems,
and for that, I have to give my body to Theo for now. Donât let anyone read this letter. Below is a
countdown to my coming back to you. When the numbers from the letter will start disappearing and
reach 5, know this, I am returning.â I frowned without having a clue what he meant.
And then read the numbers,
â1, 2, 3â,â the letters have vanished beneath the number he said.
There were no more numbers.
Does that mean he isââ coming back?
