Blakeâs POV~
My smart girl! Michael hasnât stopped pacing since Cody walked out. Alexis has gone to order lunch brought up. We are waiting to hear back from Cody.
âMichael, now would be the time to talk to me. I canât help you, if you arenât truthful. We have known each other a long time. Whatâs going on? You have until I hear back from my people to let me in on whatever this bullshit isâ
He shakes his head âYou have gotten my mate and my son killed. Thatâs what this bullshit is! They are holding my pack hostageâ¦and my family is in the cells. What choice would you have? What would you have done?â
ðº Cody? The entire pack is being held..Michaelâs family is in the cells.ðº What the actual Fuck!? He couldnât just tell us that from the jump? He better hope heâs not lying! Okay, Alpha! Weâre going in hot! Taking out anyone who resists..and itâs on him!â
I look at Michael âHopefully, that is the truth! My people are going in hot! This is either a rescue mission or it is an annihilation. Which is it!!?â Alexis rushes in âMatthew is saying we have rogues in the northeast sector! Damon has sent warriors. Iâm going, too!â I jumped up⦠grabbing Michael by the collar âIf I lose one⦠ONE⦠of my people, you are a dead man!â And we ran for the border.
This is not how I saw this day going. Reaching the border, we arrived just as 50 rogues charged from the wood line. Halfway to our borderâs edge, everyone of them slammed into an invisible wall. Our people looked back at their Luna. She smiled and waved âShield⦠just a little one.. gonna keep them out, but yâall can go through itâ And we laughed.
I looked over at her and said âFreeze this piece of shit? I want to dance with some rogues.â She walked over to Michael⦠said âIn a different lifetime, we might have been friends..if you were a decent guy..you know, not like the asshole you are now!?â And she froze him in place.
Within minutes, half of the rogues were downâ¦the other half were running away, being chased by our fighters. I shouted âLexi.. I got one survivor.. can you heal him enough for interrogation?â She nods and starts to walk away.. then stops âDanny.. stay beside this bastard. The freezing spell is about to wear off. Donât let him run awayâ then continues to me.
Both Michael and the rogue were in the cells, by the time Cody walked back in.. â Michael didnât lie. His pack was full of rogues.. we brought back two.. in the cells as we speak. His family, however were in the safe room in his office. They are outside⦠figured you will want to question them without that Alph- holeâs presence!â I nodded and signaled to bring her in.
As Laura was getting seated, Alexis poured her a cup of tea⦠handing it to her, she came and sat in my lap. âLaura, I would like to preface this meeting by saying, I am hoping for honesty. I want to get to the bottom of this.. because, if I am being honest with youâ¦what you have to say could be the difference between you going home with your mate..and you going home a widow. Now tell me, what the fuck is going on at Bear Creek!?â
She trembles and stutters âI..I..I am not completely sure. Two months ago, Michael came home, from a trip to the east.. Missouri.. or someplace.. telling me he has a good opportunity to earn quite a bit of money. All he had to do was offer safe shelter for some men.. doing some private contracting for a member of the royal family. Michael told me all he was told is they are doing recon on all the packs and Alphas in the Northwest. I always thought it was more than that, since my son and I have literally been living in the safe room for the duration of time these strangers have been around.â
Alexis said âThatâs not feasible. You donât strike me as a stupid woman. Yet, you sit hereâ¦expecting us to believe these men walking willy-nilly around your pack convinced your mate that they are there, solely on recon? Those fuckers stink of rogue! Itâs a distinctive odor⦠you canât mistake it for bad cologne! Much like whole line of hog slop you and your mate keep slinging! I have an idea! How about we just call Aunt Helena, love?â I nod at her knowing sheâs going to have her bring truth potions over. They only work on wolves that still have a modicum of decency⦠so I doubt it will work on Michaelâ¦but still worth a shot!
Helena and Max walk in about a half hour later⦠She hugs Alexis and says âEverything is ready for your Luna ceremony and I will be here Friday to supervise all the decorations and menu prep.. tomorrow we have to shop for your gown!â â¦eeeeep.. Poof! Helena laughs her ass off⦠âStill glitches?â I laugh and say âOh yeah!â Then we hear âGoddess damnit! LUNA! This was my favorite shirtâ and Cody walks in with chocolate milk all over a light blue Henley. Alexis apologizing profusely and the rest of us canât hold the laughter! I asked âYou glitched to Cody?â She nods sheepishly and I laugh even harder âSure this ainât the matrix, dude?â He flips me off and Helena waves her hand⦠cleaning Codyâs shirt with his asking âCan you fill my glass with more chocolate milk, too?â And Laura snarks âGlad everyone else can be happy!â So Alexis slaps a zipper over her mouth⦠The next five minutes spent with Helena scolding Lexiâ¦until she took it away. This day sure took a turn.
I looked at Laura⦠while Helena handed her a cup of her âspecial teaâ I said âWe will all sit quietly while Laura relaxes and finishes her tea. I poured a whiskey and as I went to sit, Alexis took it and was sipping on it. I am.. I was..wait.. Guess I will get me one now!? Handing Max one, and then⦠getting myself another.. I sit down. Helena happily smiles as she sips her own tea beside Laura.
I sit watching Laura.. as the tea starts to settle her nerves, we all watch her relax. Helena works her magic, by chatting about Laura and her son. Patting her hand every once in awhileâ¦making her feel the empathy Helena emits with everyone
