Third person POV~
Helena and Max have had dinner and are sitting on the couch, watching television. Alexis walks in and Helena tells her she put a plate in the microwave for her. She smiles at them bothâ¦walks over and kisses their cheeks and says âIâm grabbing some coffeeâ¦and my dinnerâ¦heading to the studio! I need to work off todayâs fiasco! Ohâ¦and that girl actually came in for more potions! I told her we arenât selling them for awhileâ¦then I let the Alpha knowâ⦠Helena nodded and said âHe called to apologize but I didnât talk to him⦠Max didâ Alexis looked at Max and smiles âWow! Maybe he isnât as bad as I was thinking!â And she laughsâ¦shaking her head!
Alexis stopped in her room and changed into her old painting sweats and tee shirt, throwing her hair up in a messy bun. She opened the studio door and stepped in⦠pulling out a large brick of modeling clay and began to sculpt. Using her exacto knife she began cutting to achieve the shape she was going for. Several hours later, she stood and stretched her back out and walked to the windowâ¦. opening it she breathes deeply and looks up at the moon. She whispers âMother Moon⦠please let my mate be a good man who loves me. I donât want to be abandoned by another man who is supposed to love me! Thank you, Goddess, for all your blessings!â
Helena steps through the door and walks over to stand behind her niece⦠âShe loves you, you know.. Selene⦠Hecate loves you but not like her sister. You are one of her chosen! Made for great things! In two days, you will receive a giftâ¦from both of the sisters! They have waited for you a long time!â Alexis turnedâ¦confused⦠âI donât understand! Why would they send me a gift? Why am I special?â Helena smiles and shakes her head âI canât tell you⦠I can talk to you about it on your birthday⦠But I canât.. right now! Your mother knew she would not live to see your 18th birthday. It was part of the deal she made with Selene to keep you with her. Your father was your motherâs true mate. He mated herâ¦but wouldnât mark her⦠because she was a witch. The morning he left, something inside your mom broke. She begged Selene to make him have a change of heartâ¦to come back and love her. Hecate told your mother it had to happen exactly as it was playing out. The sisters knew they couldnât take you from her, too. So, they let her raise youâ¦in a house full of love. Never doubt for one second that she ever regretted a second of having you. You were her pride. Her joy!â
Alexis suggested they go downstairs and share a bottle of wineâ¦so they could talk some more. Once they were seated, Helena smiled âI know you have a lot of questions, now. I wish your mom had spoken to you about thisâ¦but she wanted your life with her to be as perfect as she could make itâ¦and none of us could foresee her mind deserting ber before she had the chance. It was always agreed on⦠that your 18th birthday would be the time to tell you everything. Just rememberâ¦alwaysâ¦everything happens for a reason. Everything! And I will always be with you!â Alexis sat there processingâ¦and then she realizedâ¦.although Helena had said a lot⦠she had told her nothing! And she laughed! âYou simply lumped a lot of words together but said nothing! So. What the hell? Itâs the same as dangling a lollipop in front of a toddlerâ¦just out of reach! The next 48 hours are going to be the longest of my life!â Helena started laughing. She grins âI have only been told to prepare you to expect your life to change⦠drastically. But you wonât be alone on the journey! There will be people with you. Loving youâ¦supporting you⦠helping you! It is also the primary reason you were taught all things magic. You are a powerful witch! More powerful than I am. On your birthday, your motherâs power will also transfer to you. And all that you know, will be enhanced!â Alexis shook her headâ¦âSee? Nothing! I woke up this morningâ¦knowing who I am⦠I will go to bed tonight, thinking Iâve never known. How is that fair?â
Alexis canât sleep. She sits on the window seatâ¦staring at the moon. She whispers âTell me Mother Moon⦠I am only confused now! I know it is my birthday in 36 hours⦠I know the moon will be full⦠it was the night of my birth⦠does that mean something? Is it significant? Why does it feel as though my heart is burning? And why did Aunt Helena tell me all this tonight?â
She moved from the seat and laid down⦠She giggled âTo sleepâ¦.perchance to dream!â And closed her eyesâ¦.
