Aaron's Pov
It's Saturday now, almost a week and Ashley still hasn't woken up.
Jason said its normal but I don't think it is.
Well I dont care if its normal or not, I really miss her voice, her smile, her sarcastic comments, everything about her.
I miss her.
I'd never actually admit that to her tho, no. My ego is too big.
I sigh as I get up from my seat beside her and take my car keys.
Kailani said earlier that she wanted to meet up for lunch and since I didn't have any plans, I agreed.
We have gotten pretty close this past week.
She even took over Ashley's place in helping me with Eli as she joined our school.
We turned Eli in yesterday and we got an A- surprisingly.
I park my car and get out of it, walking to the café.
"Heyy," Kailani drags, trailing her fingers up my arm.
I move it away uncomfortably.
"Hey, let's order."
We are at the café Ashley normally works at, I wish she was here.
"What can I get for yo- Aaron? Where's Ashley? I've tried calling her all week but she hasn't been answering," Xavier asks.
"Um, she isn't well at the moment but I'll tell her to call you when she can," I say.
I could see Kailani rolling her eyes from the corner of my eye but maybe I'm just seeing stuff.
Kailani is kind, like she used to be.
Xaviers body stiffens.
Does he know?
"Is she okay?" He asks.
"Yeah, she is fine," Kailani rolls her eyes.
He nods before taking our orders and slipping away.
After a few minutes, a different waiter comes by and hands us our food.
I ordered a cheese burger with fries and Kailani ordered a salad.
As soon as we start eating, the café bell chimes and almost the whole football team walks in.
They immediately see me and start walking towards our table.
"Yo Aaron wassup," Liam dabs me up.
We greet eachother and they request for another table to be set next to ours so we could sit together.
Tyler notices Kailani and a frown takes over his face.
"Ayo, man. Aren't you dating Ashley? Why the fuck are you on a date with this other girl?" Tyler suddenly speaks angrily.
"We aren't on a date. We are getting lunch together, as friends," I roll my eyes.
"If you can't treat her well, let her find someone who actually can!" He says.
"Pff like you? You have always treated her like shit. You think I don't notice?" I say annoyed.
"Because I've always loved her!" He says and immediately slaps his hand over his mouth.
What. The. Fuck.
"Rowan I want my 50 bucks right fucking now! I told you he loves her!" Liam says with a smirk.
"Fuck you man! Why did you have to like her?" Rowan says.
"Yall couldn't have done this some other time?" Kailani asks.
The table falls completely silent.
I think before speaking, "If you loved her why didn't you tell her? Why did you fuck her enemy?"
"Because, she doesn't like me! And Melissa is the best distraction. She is the complete opposite of Ashley," He says.
Un- fucking- reasonable.
I scoff before getting up and storming out of the room.
I'm not mad because Tyler likes her, I'm mad because now I have to break up with her.
I don't have much of an excuse anymore. Mom and Aubrey came back 2 days ago and in my opinion they seemed a little bit annoyed by Kailani but really worried for Ashley.
I'm sure they wouldn't mind a bit of a change.
I know for sure I will.
Kailani follows after me shortly and gets into my car.
"Soo.. that was.. awkward. Wanna go get some ice cream?" She asks in a seductive tone.
I'm gonna have to do this at some point, might as well get over with it.
"Kailani I need you to date me." I say.
"Wha- sureeee," She drifts off.
My eyes widen at her response.
"No I don't mean actual dating, I mean fake dating," I say.
"What why? I'm so confused." She says.
"Um, Ashley and I aren't actually dating. We are dating to make Tyler Jealous which already worked and for my mother."
I could have sworn her face lit up as soon as I said that.
"For your mother? Why?"
"She just wants me to stop playing around.. you know, anyways since now Tyler likes Ashley back, they can date," I say sadder than I expected.
"Okay, I'll do it. Anything for you," She smiles.
We don't talk for the rest of the way.
I drop her off at her house and drive back to mine.
I park my car and as I'm getting out I see Ashley's mother, outside her house looking straight at me.
Like she is scared that if she even blinks, the whole world will crumble into pieces.
"Is she okay?" She asks, her voice soft, her eyes puffy, her nose red.
"What type of a fucking mother are you? You disgust me. I pray no one else in this world ever has a mother as bad as you. Your husband caused Ashley to be unconscious for almost a whole fucking week and you don't even care enough to look for her, ask for her till now? Unkindly, fuck off." I snap.
My whole body is fuming with anger.
Her face drops and she breaks down crying.
Pathetic.
Serves her fucking right.
I don't care that I don't have any sympathy right now. A mother should care about her child more than anything.
She couldn't care enough to risk her own life for her, so why the hell should I even think to care?
I scoff and walk to my house.
When I enter I find my mother cooking dinner for us.
"Hey son, how was your day?" She asks with a smile that doesn't reach her eyes.
"Did she wake up?" I ask disregarding her question.
"No," Her face falls.
I give her a quick kiss on her cheek before walking upstairs to get changed.
"Will you join us for dinner?" She asks.
"It's okay mom, I'm not hungry."
I walk into my room and grab a vest alongside sweatpants and change into them.
When I'm done, I walk over to my bed and lie down next to Ashley.
I look over at to her, she looks so peaceful yet so broken.
I wanna fix her, I wanna be the glue for the broken pieces of her heart.
But you can't fix a person.
No matter how hard you try.
I'm about to fall asleep until..
"Aaron," She whispers.
Her voice is so low, its like she never spoke anything.
But she did.
She's awake.
