Chapter 27: Neon Wigs and Ring Pops

KARA

It’s been three weeks since the camping trip. These past few weeks have probably been the most interesting weeks of my entire life.

We’ve gotten to know each other a lot better outside of sexual things, and everything was going smoothly.

Jason finally caught up in all of his classes just in time for the championship game. His grades were way better, and he’s learned how to focus on both school and football.

I’ve been to two more of his games. The championship game was coming up, and this time I had to wear the jersey again.

“So, are we still hanging out after school?” Jason asked as he walked me to my last class.

“Maybe,” I teased, trying not to laugh when his face dropped.

“But you—”

“I’m kidding.” My hand reached out, and I messed up his soft blond hair while he rolled his eyes at me. “I’ll meet you at your car.” I smiled at the thought of his car.

“I think you like it more than me,” Jason muttered. I nodded.

He raised an eyebrow, stepping closer to me when we reached my classroom door. “But the car can’t do this.” He leaned in so his lips connected with mine.

Ugh, such soft lips.

I smiled into the kiss before pushing him away. “You’re right.” Jason grinned in victory. “The car kisses better.” I laughed before running into my classroom.

I had no doubt Jason was probably standing outside the classroom with a boner.

One thing I’d learned over the last few weeks was the way he reacted to me and how to get him to react, and boy did he love when I teased him.

It’s very amusing.

Halfway through class, something smacked the classroom door loudly, causing me to jump in surprise. The sudden noise in the quiet classroom got everyone’s attention.

My eyes darted to the door, and my jaw dropped in disbelief.

Jason was standing outside the door’s window wearing a bright neon pink wig and huge lime green glasses. He was holding up a sign that read, “Party Tonight!”

The party was most likely for the prechampionship game.

I snapped back to reality when he accidentally bumped his head on the window. Jason looked ridiculous, but it was hilarious.

The door creaked open, causing everyone who hadn’t noticed him to stop talking and stare at the front. A few people who finally noticed laughed, and my teacher glared in confusion.

Mr. Garcia asked, “Can I help you, Jason?”

Jason glanced at me, grinning widely before turning back to the teacher. “Can I come in for a minute?” He moved so that he was sitting on the teacher’s desk.

“Shouldn’t you be in class?” Mr. Garcia gave him a suspicious stare.

Jason shook his head. “Free period.”

Now I was confused as to why he was just sitting here.

“That’s nice, but can you please leave my classroom?”

Jason smirked, jumping off the desk. “Not yet, Mr. Garcia.”

Our teacher was ready to question him, but Jason simply turned his back to him and began walking toward the back of the room toward me.

My eyebrow cocked, silently questioning him as he slowly got closer.

Jason stopped once he was right in front of me. I almost fell on the ground laughing again once I saw his humorous outfit up close.

His wig was hanging sideways on his head, and the giant sunglasses kept tilting everywhere. Jason’s stupid grin made me smile so much my own cheeks hurt.

“Kara,” the blond greeted while still grinning like a lunatic.

“Jason.” I narrowed my eyes playfully.

“Jason, you have to—” the teacher began, but Jason cut him off.

“Just give me a minute, I swear.” He gave our teacher his million-dollar smile, which won him a minute. I’m certain our teacher was just as curious as the rest of us, though.

Jason cleared his throat, reaching behind him. I heard a noise that sounded like a wrapper being crunched up.

A second later, he pulled out a strawberry Ring Pop. Jason knelt down so we were face-to-face. My eyebrows furrowed, and a few people gasped.

“Kara Acosta,” Jason began, and I automatically knew what was about to happen, “will you do me the honor of becoming my lovely girlfriend?”

He grinned widely as my cheeks began to heat up. I heard a few girls “aww” over how cheesy he was, but I had to admit, it was thoughtful and extremely adorable.

A different side I was still getting used to.

My eyes wandered around the room to see everyone watching us. I glanced back at Jason, eyes locking with his bright blue ones. They were full of so much hope.

I smiled shyly before nodding. “It’s about time,” I replied before he let out a chuckle. Jason wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me off my chair, crushing me against his strong chest.

I was starting to feel uncomfortable under everyone’s gaze. “You can let go of me now.” I laughed so only the two of us could hear.

“I’d rather not,” Jason mumbled into my neck, causing butterflies to erupt in my stomach. The warmth was swarming in my heart, and I felt as if I were about to explode from happiness.

Someone cleared their throat, and I turned to see my teacher watching with an amused stare. I blushed and struggled to pry Jason’s arms from around me.

“As interesting as that was,” Mr. Garcia said, staring at Jason, who had finally let go of me, “you need to go now.”

“I’m in a very, very, very good mood, Mr. Garcia.” Jason beamed, giving me one more glance before leaving the room.

The rest of the class went by excruciatingly slowly. That’s how it always feels during the last class of the day.

It was only Thursday, and luckily we didn’t have school tomorrow due to the teachers’ workshop.

Jason had sent me a message informing me of the change of plans. He and Q were going to prepare for the party, so we were going to meet at his house instead of after school.

I texted Jess and Layla about Jason asking me out, and they were already tag-teaming on what I was going to wear tonight.

A nervous knot formed in my stomach as the bell rang, dismissing us from school for the rest of the weekend.

JASON

“Hey,” I grinned at Q as he walked into my house. I had invited him over before everyone showed up so we could get everything ready as well as hang out before it started.

Q was the one who finally talked me into asking Kara out. If it weren’t for him, I’d probably still be freaking out over how to do it and beating myself up for not making up a perfect scenario.

We walked into the kitchen to stock up on snacks. “How’d it go?” Q asked as we both sat down at the counter.

I grinned. “She said yes.” Q rolled his eyes, letting out a small laugh.

“It doesn’t take a genius to know that she was going to say yes, but I’m proud of you.” Q took a sip from his cup before speaking up again. “I can tell you’re seriously into her, man.”

“I didn’t even think it was possible for me to like someone so much.”

Q shrugged. “No harm in showing a girl what she means to you.” I nodded gratefully.

“Wanna go game before everyone starts showing up?” Q and I hung out in the living room playing ~Smash Bros~.

The hours passed by, and people finally began to show up. The party slowly started to come to life. I didn’t pay any attention to who arrived; I was waiting for Kara.

She was the only person on my mind right now.

A few girls would come up and make small talk, but I knew better than that. Some girls just don’t understand what “I’m not interested” means.

I’d brush them off as nicely as possible, but I just had to be blunt.

Like with Sarah. I shuddered at the thought of her.

I only dated her because everyone expected us to date. She was never anything special to me.

Kara, on the other hand, has grown on me so quickly it’s terrifying. I like the feeling I get when I’m with her, or whenever I hear her name, even when I think about her.

All the physical stuff was just a bonus, but it didn’t compare to the emotional.

I walked past a group of girls, making my way to the kitchen. The music was playing in the background, and people were talking with friends.

I’m glad my parents let me throw this party. They only agreed once I told them the reason and how I was going to ask Kara out.

Of course, my mom began to squeeze the details out of me. Not literally, but that woman had one tight grip. Every time I’d try to sneak away, she’d pinch my arm and scold me until I told her my plan.

Thankfully, they agreed to stay with my aunt who they’ve been meaning to visit soon anyway. The only part I was nervous about was people breaking stuff. I had my mom lock all of the rooms and valuable stuff.

“Hey, your girlfriend is finally here.”

My heartbeat increased, and I grinned at the word. Who knew a word that once meant nothing to me could end up making me feel like I won the lottery?

~Kara Acosta is my girlfriend.~

Before I could walk out of the room to go get her, three girls blocked my exit. I glanced down at them, smiling once I saw Layla and Jess, who were smirking back at me.

When my eyes landed on Kara, everything I was about to say died in my throat, and my breathing hitched.

My eyes locked with her chocolate-brown ones. They were so warm and loving. They made me feel things I’ve never felt before. My dick twitched at the sight of her looking up at me between her lashes.

I tore my eyes away from hers, trailing them down her perfect body. I took in every detail of her.

The well-fitting black dress that hugged her curves in all the right places. The way her dark hair fell in soft waves down her back. Her long, black eyelashes framed her big, brown doe eyes.

She was so fucking beautiful, and I was more than ecstatic to be able to call her mine.

My girlfriend. The idea of being able to do whatever I wanted to her caused my dick to harden. The possibilities were endless.

“You look gorgeous,” I breathed out, realizing that she left me breathless just by looking at her.

“Thanks.” Kara blushed, looking down. I took the opportunity to pull her against me. I wrapped my arms around her waist and stared down at her.

As soon as she tilted her head back to stare at me, I leaned in and pressed my lips against her soft ones.

I almost groaned in pleasure at how perfect her lips felt against mine.

When we pulled away, I grinned down at her.

“What?” Kara asked, looking confused.

I laughed at how cute she looked when she was curious. “That was our first kiss as an official couple.” Kara took a moment to think about it, and then smiled widely once she realized that it was.

A moment later, she grabbed me by the collar and pulled me to her, crashing her lips against mine.

As the night went on, I lost count of how many times Kara and I kissed. I loved being able to kiss her whenever I wanted. Even though I could before, it was even better now that we were official.

There were a few times I tried to sneak my fingers up her dress, but she’d slap my hand away, teasing me even further.

I knew she liked it, though. The way her eyes darkened, giving me a look that said she intended to devour me, only drove me wild.

I stared at Kara as she danced with Jess and Layla. I was dancing with her before, but her grinding her tight little ass against me wasn’t helping my situation at all.

Plus, I didn’t want to steal her away from her friends all night.

“Hey, bro.” I tore my eyes away from Kara’s perfect figure, turning my head to my left. I saw Trent, a guy I’d hung out with a few times at previous parties.

“It’s been a while.” The pierced guy came up to me, making conversation. “How are you and Sarah?”

I sighed in annoyance. It’s not like he knew about Kara and me since he wasn’t from our town. Trent knew me through football camp. We played during the summer together.

“We’re not together anymore. I’ve got a new girlfriend now.” His eyebrows shot up in surprise.

His dark eyes gazed around. “Who’s the lucky girl?”

I glanced at him before searching for Kara, almost immediately spotting her in the crowd. “That’s Kara.” I pointed her out.

My jeans tightened as I saw her body seductively sway to the music. She had no idea what she was doing to me.

Trent stared at her for a few seconds before letting out a low whistle, obviously liking what he saw. I clenched my jaw, trying to control myself.

It made me feel uneasy knowing some other guy was drooling over Kara.

“Damn, you sure know how to pick them. You’ve got a nice list going.” Trent chuckled before taking a long drink from his bottle.

I shook my head, cringing at his words. “It’s not like that.”

The creep shrugged. “If you get bored, I wouldn’t mind taking her off your hands,” he replied, trying to act innocent. His eyes never left Kara.

Trent’s words only angered me. “I’m serious when it comes to her, so say something like that again and I won’t hesitate to break your jaw,” I snapped furiously.

Trent and I have never gotten along. He was an asshole who had no filter. The one thing I couldn’t stand most was how he treated girls he talked to.

Which was why I never allowed myself to be friends with him.

Trent threw his hands up in a lazy surrender. “I was just kidding, man.”

I mentally rolled my eyes. I knew he wasn’t. I wanted to walk away, but didn’t out of fear that he’d do something stupid. I wanted to keep an eye on him.

A few minutes passed, and Trent and I were still hanging out against the wall. Trent leaned back, using the wall for support. “Have you slept with her yet?”

“That’s none of your business,” I growled at him, hoping he would just shut up.

The more he talked, the more I wanted to pummel his face in. My rage was building, but I didn’t want to do anything to ruin tonight. The day was going amazingly so far.

Trent laughed. “Take it easy, it’s just a question.” My jaw clenched, and I shook my head, refusing to even reply to him. It was clear that he had too much to drink.

He chuckled while taking another sip. “I bet she’s going to be a wild one in bed, though.” I curled my hands into fists.

I didn’t even want Kara for sex. Given the way we started this relationship, yeah, I did, but it was more than that now.

I liked her for who she was. Kara’s feisty attitude, her beautiful laugh, her sense of humor, and ability to shut me up. It was a perfect combination.

The asshole continued to talk, pushing me to my limit. I turned to him, catching him staring at Kara in a way that made my blood boil.

I knew Trent and his ways; he didn’t care if the girl he was going after had a boyfriend. He’d force himself upon her and pester her until she gave in.

If he even thought for a moment that I’d let him get near Kara, he was insane.

“I bet I’m her type.” He grinned darkly. “Maybe I’ll find out when—”

I threw my fist, making sure to hit him as hard as I could. My fist pounded into his cheekbone, and he yelped in pain. Trent fell back, and I held him down, ignoring the pain that shot throughout my fist.

It was already beginning to ache, but right now, I couldn’t care less.

“Don’t you ever, and I mean ever, fucking talk about my girlfriend like that,” I growled in a low voice. I was so infuriated that it felt like my blood was on fire.

There was a crowd of people around us, but I ignored them and focused on the piece of trash in front of me. How dare he talk about any girl that way.

Especially about my girlfriend to my face? The audacity.

“Jason.” My body tensed at the sound of the angelic voice. My fists clenched as I stared down at Trent. His face had a small mark—but nothing too bad.

I stood up after shoving Trent one last time. “If you ever say anything about my girlfriend again, I’ll make sure you end up six feet underground.”
