Chapter 1018
Abigail said. âYour hubbyâs around I better not go in I gotta keep a decent distance
Comelia asked, âDidnât you used to enjoy his company? Why the sudden change of heart?â
Abigail replied. âMy boyfriend gets ridiculously jealous Just yesterday when he was leaving Rosenberg he told me to keep my eyes off other guys
Cornelia asked. âWhatâs wrong with looking at other guys? Just because youâre seeing someone doesnât mean youâre blind
Abigail said, âI agree, but he said it makes him jealous, and he had a point. If Iâve decided to marry him, I should mspect his feelings and keep my contact with other guys to
a minimumâ
Comelia said. âAbby this sounds a bit off
Abigail cut her off, âEnough about that, I gotta go. Hit me up if you need somethingâ
Comelia watched Abigail leave, and as she withdrew her gaze, she caught Tahliaâs
Comelia rubbed her head and asked. âWhatâs up. Tahlia?â
Tahlia wrapped her arms around Cornelia and started sobbing âCorneliaâ¦â
Comelia asked. âWhatâs wrong, why are you crying?â
Tahlia said, âI couldnât reach you earlier and I was scared. I was afraid I couldnât find you, afraid of losing you.â
Cornelia gently patted her back and said, âThat wonât happen. Weâll always be together. Marcus is here too, go say hi and then we can sort through our grandmaâs stuff
Tahlia asked. âI thought he wasnât coming to Rosenberg. Why is he here?â
Comelia replied, âHeâs here for some business.â
Tahlia said, âCorneliaâ
Cornelia said, âSpeak your mind, Tahlia Iâm your sister, no need to hold back.â
Tahlia said, âOnce weâre back in Riverton, I think Iâm going to rent my own place. I still have some savings that should last me until I find a job. Iâm an adult now, and since I used to have a thing for Marc, it feels a bit weird to live with you guys.â
Cornelia said, âYou can stay at my place for now, no need to go anywhere else. Once youâre financially stable, you can think about moving out. If it makes you uncomfortable, I wonât let Marcus come around when youâre there.â
Upon hearing this, Tahlia felt even more awkward. âBut itâs your house and heâs your husband. It doesnât feel right for me to be there and have him not come.â
Cornelia said, âYouâre my sister and Iâm your sister. Donât ever say that again.â
Tahlia said, âAlright, Iâll take your word for itâ She took Corneliaâs kindness to heart.
She also made a silent vow to work hard, earn money, and become stronger so she could protect Cornelia.
Granny Rebecca didnât leave much behind, hardly anything of value. Cornelia had some savings and bought Granny Rebecca a fridge worth over a thousand dollars. But after they moved to Riverton, the fridge was sold by Robison and his wife
The most abundant things left were books, most of which were textbooks from Granny Rebeccaâs teaching days, each annotated meticulously by her. As Cornelia was sorting through the books, she came across a notebook wrapped in old newspaper
Opening the cover, she saw Granny Rebeccaâs handwriting. She kept flipping the pages, and when she saw the contents of the second page, her mind went blank
