Chapter 1029
Marcus was being all bossy like some big shot CEO from a romance novel. Cornelia was a bit worried at first, but his tone made her burst out laughing, âAlrighty, President Hartley!â
Marcus said, âIâm discussing serious matters with you, can you be a bit more serious?â
Cornelia said, âI got your point, Iâm being serious all the way.â
Marcus was speechless.
Cornelia continued, âYou mustâve heard what I did today, right?â
Marcus nodded, âYeah.â
Cornelia said, âNow Iâm utterly confused, I donât know who to believe.â
Marcus said, âGo ahead. Spill the beans.â
Cornelia said, âMy grannyâs diary clearly states that my father isnât her biological son, but my DNA test with my granny shows weâre blood related. So should I trust my grannyâs diary or the DNA test?â
Marcus said, âI had a DNA test done on you guys too, and the results match what you said. The testing process was legit, no room for scam. So now weâre dead sure that Granny Rebecca is indeed your blood granny.â
Cornelia was even more baffled, âIf Granny Rebecca is my real granny, then why would she scribble such a misleading diary?â
Marcus hadnât spent much time with Granny Rebecca, so he had no idea why she would write such a misleading diary either, âAre you sure the handwriting in the diary is Granny Rebeccaâs?â
Cornelia said, âHer handwriting is pretty unique, Iâve known it since I was a kid, no way Iâd mistake it.â
Marcus said, âIf we can confirm that the diary was handwritten by Granny Rebecca, then there must be some secrets she couldnât spill outright. Try to recall if she ever said anything weird to you.â
Corneliaâs mind was a total mess now, âI canât remember.â
Marcus said, âCome a bit closer to me.â
Cornelia asked, âWhat?â
Marcus chuckled, âI mean, come a bit closer to me.â
Cornelia moved closer, Marcus reached out a hand and gently ruffled her hair, âNo pressure if you canât remember. Take a break, recharge your batteries, and think about it later.â
She was exhausted from last night and had been running around all day today; Cornelia was beat, âAlright, Iâll pass out for a while, wake me up when we get home.â
Seeing that she was seriously going to take a nap, Marcus asked again, âDonât you have anything else to tell me?â
Cornelia asked, âWhat else do you wanna hear?â
Marcus said, âArenât you going to tell me about the fake Clair?â
âIf you already know, then why ask me?â Cornelia was actually not planning to tell him. She was going to figure out a way to squeeze the information she needed out of Clair herself. If it was indeed the fake Clair who killed her mother, she wouldnât let her get away with it.
Marcus said, âI want you to tell me yourself.â
Cornelia didnât want to cause him trouble, but she didnât plan to keep secrets from him either, so she spilled the beans, âToday I did several DNA tests, and the results show that this Clair isnât my biological mother. If this Clair isnât my mother, then my real mother, the real Clair, was likely killed by the current one.â
Marcus replied, âKnowing how dangerous this Clair is, you still met her alone and even took samples from her. You canât do such dangerous things anymore.â
