Chapter 1089
Marcus snorted in derision, âWasnât I clear enough before? If you canât even respect a person, what right do you have to say you love her?â
Zavier was speechless.
Marcus continued, âBefore Skyler left, she left Cornelia a long letter. Cornelia and I glanced over the general content. Iâll ask Comelia if sheâs willing to let you read it. If Cornelia agrees, Iâll send you the letter, in the hopes youâll understand how hard Skyler had it while she was with you, why sheâd rather die than stay by your side.â
Zavier looked at Marcus, âDoes it even matter anymore? Even if I know now, can she come back to me?â
Marcus fell silent
Zavier went on, âMarc, be honest with me. Are you mocking me? Do you think I deserve to be in this state? Do you think I shouldnât be bothering you, pestering you every day to bring Skyler back to me?â
Marcus, âZavier, youâve changed.â
âIâve changed? Or have you changed?â Zavier laughed, âYouâve changed. You used to never let a woman distract you, look at yourself now.â
Marcus said, âAfter a man has a family, shouldnât he put more thoughts into his family?â
Zavier was stunned for a moment, suddenly realizing where he fell short compared to Marcus, âNo wonder Skyler always wanted to leave me, and Cornelia is so loyal to you. Itâs because I never considered her and me as a familyâ
Marcus didnât know what to say, he just listened quietly without saying a word.
Zavier continued, âWeâre about the same age, and Iâve been involved with women much longer than you, yet Iâm not as smart as youâ
Marcus said, âSkyler is gone. Donât be too upset.â
Zavier said, âYou can go. I want to be alone for a while.â
âAlright Marcus didnât say much else and turned to leave.
Outside the lounge, Zavierâs bodyguard rushed over, âPresident Hartley.â
Marcus said. âThe calmer Mr. Rivera is now, the more worried you should be. Keep a close eye on him, donât let him do anything rash.â
Bodyguard said, âYes, weâll keep an eye on him. Are you leaving now?â
Marcus didnât answer, he just walked away
Cornelia was waiting for him at the elevator. When she saw him coming out, she wanted to say something, but couldnât.
Marcus reached out and ruffled her hair, âWhat do you want to say?â
Cornelia asked, âIs Zavier okay?â
Marcus answered, âHeâs still aliveâ
He was still alive! But he was living like a walking corpse, better off dead!
Listening to this, Cornelia felt terrible, but she scolded him. âServes him right!â
Marcus said, âSteven and Lucas are also on the plane, they should be arriving soon. Letâs go home and change clothes, we still have things to do.â
âOkay.â Cornelia took the initiative to hold his hand, âWhy are your hands so cold again?â
In this kind of heat, stepping out of an airâconditioned room for a short while would make him sweat. But his hands were still as cold as ice, definitely not normal. Cornelia said, âYou should go to the hospital for a full body checkâup.â
Marcus smiled and said, âThe air conditioning in Zavierâs room was set very low, Iâm a bit cold, but I should be fine in a while.â
Cornelia insisted, âYou have to see a doctor.â
Marcus shook off her hand, he walked ahead and said, âI know my own body better than you do, if I need to see a doctor I will. You donât need to keep nagging me to go to the doctor, Iâm not sick yet.â
Cornelia had no reply.
What a pain in the ass!
He did it on purpose to piss her off!
