Chapter 11
Leonardo laughed, âThis is the first time Iâve heard someone turn me down with such a reason.â
Cornelia chuckled, âShould I feel honored then?â
Leonardo said, âYou know, the more you act like this, the more interested I am in you.â
âWell, you know what, the more you act like this, the more I dislike you.â Corneliaâs smile disappeared, and she said seriously, âMr. Wilson, I have absolutely no interest in you, not now, not ever. Donât waste your time on me.â
Her words amused Leonardo even more. âCornelia, you and your President Hartley are quite alike. You never consider othersâ feelings. when you reject them. Itâs really embarrassing.â
Cornelia replied, âBut I donât see it.â
Leonardo: ââ¦â
Oh my god!
He actually lost to a woman in this war of words.
âYou should be entertaining your guests as the host, but instead, youâre hiding here, chatting with my assistant.â
Marcusâs deep voice suddenly sounded behind them.
Cornelia turned around and saw Marcus standing not far behind them. She didnât know how long he had been there or how much of their conversation he had heard.
Her arrogance instantly vanished, and she obediently walked over to him. âPresident Hartleyâ¦â
Seeing Cornelia become so wellâbehaved in an instant, Leonardo found it even more interesting. âMarc, your assistant is always bullying me. You should do something about it.â
usâs tone s
âDid you bully Mr. Wilson?â Marcusâs tone sounded like a question, but a careful look could reveal the smile on his lips.
âI didnât.â Cornelia shook her head frantically. âI wouldnât dare bully him in his own home.â
as up again âMarc, who do
Leonardo started stirring things up again. âMarc, who do you believe, her or me?â
âTonight youâre the host, and sheâs the guest.â Marcus didnât directly say who heâd side with, but his words clearly implied that even if Cornelia bullied Leonardo, as the host, he should endure it.
Leonardo teased, âMarc, youâve changed. Youâre actually bullying your friend for a woman now.â
âMarc has his priorities mixed up?â Cameron walked over with a wine glass and joined the conversation.
When he saw Cornelia, his eyes darkened. âWhy are you here?â
Cornelia: ââ¦â
She didnât seem to have offended this guy. Every time they met, he gave her a cold look, as if she had done something terrible to him.
Marcus raised an eyebrow. âDo I need to ask for your opinion on whom I bring with me?â
Cameron awkwardly laughed. âMarc, I didnât mean it like that.â
Leonardo quickly tried to smooth things over. âYouâre finally here. Letâs go have a drink.â
âPresident Hartley, you canât drink tonight.â Marcus had just stopped taking his medication today. Before coming to the banquet, Dr. Dawson called Cornelia several times, telling her to keep an eye on Marcus and absolutely not let him touch alcohol. Cornelia didnât dare to be negligent.
Leonardo teased again, âMarc, why is your assistant so strict with you, almost like
a
Cornelia glared at him. âMr. Wilson, maybe you should just shut up.â
Leonardo pretended to be hurt. âMarc, look, sheâs bullying me again.â
Marcus said, âI donât want to drink tonight. Letâs do something else.â
Hearing this, Cornelia finally relaxed.
Leonardo asked, âDancing? Playing cards? Or do you want to do something more exciting?â
Marcus wasnât interested in any of those things, but since it was an important occasion, he couldnât leave too early. âWhatever.â
Leonardo: âOkay then.â
The four of them left the noisy banquet hall and entered the card room.
Leonardo seemed excited. âHow big do you want to play tonight?â
Chapter 11
Comelia had seen rich people play games and lose a house in one night, which was not uncommon. She still hadnât saved enough for a down payment on a house, so she couldnât afford to lose. âPresident Hartley, I donât want to play. Can you find someone else?â
Leonardo quickly responded, âMarc, you canât spoil her in everything. Otherwise, itâll be hard to deal with her in the future.â
Marcus didnât say anything, and Cornelia understood his meaning. She had to participate.
Cameronâs eyes kept darting towards Cornelia. âLetâs play Truth or Dare tonight.â
Leonardo said, âI agree. It all depends on whether Marc dares to play.â
Marcus glanced at Comelia, and Cornelia nodded vigorously. âAs long as we donât play for money, Iâll be up for any game.â
Leonardo laughed at her again. âSo you didnât want to play earlier because you were afraid of losing money. Who cares about winning your money?â
Comelia: ââ¦
She knew they were very rich, but was there a need to rub it in her face?
Everyone started drawing cards, and Cornelia immediately got a task card.
Leonardo looked at Cornelia and asked with a grin, âTruth or Dare?â
Comelia: âTruth.â
Leonardo: âIs what you told me tonight true, or just an excuse to reject me?â
Comelia: âItâs true.â
Cameron said, âI was the one who suggested playing this game, so I should be the one to ask. Ms. Stewart, how do you feel about your President Hartleyâ¦
Leonardo interrupted him. âCameron, Iâve already asked my question. You can ask yours next time.â
In the second round, Cameron drew a card, and Marcus stared at him intently.
He directly asked, âSo, Truth or Dare?â
Cameron: âTruth.â
Leonardo opened his mouth to ask, but Marcusâs warning look stopped him. He then turned to Cornelia. âMs. Stewart, why donât you ask the question?â
Comelia didnât hold back. âCameron, we didnât know each other before. Why do you have a problem with me, an ordinary assistant?â
Cameron didnât expect her to be so straightforward, his face turning dark with embarrassment. âHow on earth did you get that idea?â
Cameron didnât want to answer, and Cornelia didnât get an answer either. She was just reminding Cameron that she was just a little assistant, not a threat to him, and that there was no need for him to have an issue with her.
The game continued, and it was Leonardoâs turn.
Leonardo, fearless, said, âIâll also choose truth. Whatever secret you guys want to know, Iâll tell you honestly.â
Marcus and Cameron werenât interested in his truth, so they both looked at Cornelia.
Comelia was more than happy to take on this task. âMr. Wilson, there are rumors saying that youâre dating a pure goddess from the entertainment industry. Is that true?â
The main reason she asked was that the rumored girlfriend was Zackâs dream girl, so Cornelia wanted to ask for him.
Leonardo: âI just got out of her bed this morning. What do you think?â
Comelia: ââ¦
That answer was a bit too direct.
Just now, that actressâs studio was going to sue those who spread rumors.
Turns out, you really canât trust whatâs said in the entertainment industry.
Leonardo: âAre you asking this because, even though you say youâre not interested in me, you secretly like me?â
Comelia: âHeh hehâ¦*
After that, Leonardo was bombarded with many gossip questions by Cornelia, and she was thrilled.
Marcus looked at her a few times, not understanding what she was so happy about.
Leonardo muttered, âLetâs go again. I donât believe Iâm this unlucky.â
In the end, Leonardo lost miserably and started to be a sore loser. âI donât care, Marc, you have to answer one of my questions too, to compensate for my suffering.â

Chapter 11
Without waiting for Marcus to agree, Leonardo asked, âSo, tell us, how are things with you and your wife?â
