Chapter 1100
Even though Marcus knew they had to leave, he still kissed her lips till they swelled.
âAre we still going?â Marcus asked
With her face flushed, Comelia firmly said, âYes! Dr. Lester is already here. Let him give you a quick checkâup first. We can leave afterwardsâ
âIâve told you, thereâs no need for that Stop arranging doctors for meâ Marcus said
âYouâre the one who knows your body best. Youâre an adult, not a kid. See a doctor when needed, take your meds and rest. Stop saying youâre fineâ Cornelia replied.
âExactly, I know my body best. Mind your own business from now on Marcus said.
Comelia was speechless. He always had a way to piss her off again!
Half an hour later, Comelia and Marcus arrived again at Zavierâs burnt down yard.
Steven, Lucas and their wives who were waiting there had different expressions upon seeing the couple. Some were happy, others not so much.
Hannah and Rosie were obviously thrilled, âCorneliaââ
Comelia, equally excited, replied, âHannah! Rosieâ
Rosie rushed towards Cornelia and gave her a warm hug.
Hannah lifted her foot to run towards Comelia but was pulled back by Steven after only one step, âDarling, remember what I told you. Donât get too close to Corneliaâ
Hannah struggled but couldnât break free. Stevenâs grip was so strong that it hurt. She looked at Stevenâs hand tightly gripping her wrist, âSteven, what are you so afraid of? Are you afraid that I, the substitute, will also disappear suddenly?â
Stevenâs face darkened, âHannah!â
Steven was kind on the surface but ruthless inside. Those who crossed him never ended well.
Hannah, having been with him for many years, knew him better than anyone. Some things could be mentioned once. If she kept bringing them up, the only one who got hurt in the end was her. âI understand my place. I know what I should and shouldnât do.â Hannah said.
Satisfied with her answer, Steven let go, âGo.â
Hannah walked towards Cornelia.
Cornelia held her hand, âHow long have you been here? You must be tired standing. Shall we find a place to sit?â
Hannah wanted to go, but she couldnât decide. âLetâs see what they say.â
Rosie said, âNo matter what they say, I have lots of questions about Skyler for Cornelia. Letâs go to a coffee shop first.â
Cornelia knew Hannah had many things she felt helpless about, âRosie, wait a moment.â
Rosie turned to Lucas, âHave you decided where to go?â
âToday, youâre all here for me. Although my yard has been reduced to ashes, I should still host you properly. Suddenly, Zavierâs voice echoed in the yard, and everyone noticed he was already standing at the entrance.
âZavier? Is that you?â Steven could hardly believe the man in front of him was Zavier, but his voice was unmistakably familiar.
His hair had turned completely gray, his face extremely tired, like a man close to fifty, not a vibrant young man in his thirties.
Zavier smiled and said. âDonât you recognize me?â
He turned to look at Marcus, his smile turning more eerie, âMarcus, are you satisfied with my new look?â
