Chapter 1110
Both Grandpa Duran and Hannah noticed something off about Steven, their eyes shifting towards him. Steven, a bit out of it, lifted Hannahâs cup, taking a sip of juice, and asked, âOld Duran, when did you get here?â
Grandpa Duran asked, âWhatâs up with you?â
Steven replied, âIâm fine.â
Grandpa Duman, still puzzled, asked, âAre you really okay?â
Steven explained, âMaybe I just didnât get much sleep last night. Iâm feeling a bit out of sorts todayâ
Whether or not that was the reason, Grandpa Duran didnât press further, âSince youâre all here, letâs head to the Capital together and witness me acknowledging Comelia as my granddaughterâ
Comelia feeling tense, lightly tugged at Marcusâs sleeve. However, Marcus didnât help, instead responding. âSure, letâs head to the Capital now. The sooner we get the acknowledgment ceremony done, the better.â
Comelia gave him a glare, then turned to Grandpa Duran, âGrandpa Duran, this is a big deal, donât you want to think this over? Donât act on impulse and bring back someone who might bring you bad luck.â
Grandpa Duran replied, âIâm not being impulsive. Iâve been thinking about this since our last meeting. Isnât this long enough? Also, who said youâd bring me bad luck?â
Cornelia whispered, âMy relatives did not end up wellâ She wasnât superstitious, but the events that kept happening to her made her worry. She was worned she might bring Grandpa Duran bad luck.
Grandpa Duran comforted her, âIf you put it that way, then Iâve brought my wife and son bad luck too. Letâs see who can bring more bad luck after we acknowledge
each other.â
Hearing Grandpa Duranâs words, Cornelia felt a bit relieved, âGrandpa Duranâ
Grandpa Duran asked, âAre you still scared?â
Comelia shook her head, âNot anymore.â
Grandpa Duran, âThen letâs head to the Capital nowâ
Cornelia looked at Marcus. âHowâs Zavier? How is Skylerâs funeral going?â
Marcus patted Corneliaâs head, âThe Blue family and the Rivera family are here. Theyâll handle Skylerâs funeral. As for Zavier, Iâll pretend I never knew him.â
Cutting ties with a longâtime friend was sure to be heartâwrenching. Comelia hugged Marcus, âDonât be too upsetâ
Marcus replied, âI still have Steven and Lucas.â
Cornelia whispered, âSteven seems off today. Do you know whatâs wrong?â
Marcus replied. âHe seems simple, but heâs deep. I canât read his mindâ
Cornelia took a deep breath.
Marcus asked, âWhatâs up?â
Cornelia asked, âAre you really okay with me going to the Capital?â
Marcus replied, âGrandpa Duran adores you Him acknowledging you as his granddaughter is a good thing. Why wouldnât you go?â
Cornelia said, âBut Iâm worriedâ
Marcus comforted her, âRelax.â
Grandpa Duran was very displeased, âThere are so many people here, and you two are whispering about what?â
