Chapter 1151
Brian said, âLetâs see how long you can keep up this act.â
Regardless of how long she could keep it up, or whether she would win, Cornelia always reminded herself to keep her cool and that the first round was
crucial.
Once they were all set, the referee shouted, âBegin!â
With the sound of a gunshot, Corneliaâs bullet accurately hit the bullseye.
The three Duran brothers in the stands couldnât quite believe their eyes; they hadnât expected Cornelia to be more than just talk. Turned out, she really could shoot. But no worries, there were ten rounds in total and it was only the first one. They had to see how she performed in the coming rounds.
*Are you really a good shot, or just lucky? Weâll find out in the next round.â Brian said, casually walking to his shooting position.
He lifted his hand, took a step, and off flew his bullet.
The next second, gasps filled the audience, âHeâs amazing!â
Turned out his bullet landed exactly where Cornelia had just hit, right in the bullseye.
âNelly, how do you think my shooting skills compare to yours?â He turned around, looking at Cornelia provocatively, âYou still have the chance to back out before the match ends.â
Cornelia tried to stay focused, continuing to aim her gun. Perhaps her concentration was too intense or she was too tense; when she pulled the trigger, she made a mistake. Her hand trembled slightly and the bullet hit the outer ring of the target.
With such a big mistake, it would be very difficult for Cornelia to beat Brian now. Only if Brian made a similar mistake, could they possibly close the gap,
Wyatt in the audience said, âKnew she just got lucky.â
Alexa replied, âDonât jump to conclusions so soon.
Emily added, âShush, letâs see how Brian handles it.â
Brian slowly circled around Cornelia, âIf I score just one point more than you, youâre finished.â
Cornelia couldnât help but roll her eyes, âWhy do you talk so much? Can you just shoot already and not waste everyoneâs time?â
âI was just trying to delay your defeat, but if you insist, I wonât hold back. As soon as he finished speaking, Brian pulled the trigger and the bullet flew out. His bullet once again landed exactly where Cornelia had hit, incredibly accurate. Seeing how perfectly he could control the bullets, Cornelia had to admit, sheâd run into his strong suit. She knew there was no possible way she could win through a normal match.
Unlessâ¦
Brian said, âIâll give you one last chance. If you admit defeat now, Iâll stop competing with you.â
Cornelia replied, âI told you I wonât back down. If you want to back out, I wonât force you to apologize to me.â
Brian retorted, âWhatâs the point of you saying that?â.
Cornelia replied, âItâs not over till itâs over. Who knows whoâll win in the end?â
Brian said, âAlright, letâs wait for the results then.â
âDo you think Iâm scared of you?â After being with Marcus for so long, the most important thing Cornelia learnt from him was to keep her cool no matter how difficult the situation.
Brian continued, âDefeating you would be a piece of cake. But I donât want to defeat you right away; I want to play a game of cat and mouse.â
When a cat caught a mouse, it seldom ate it right away. Usually, the cat would play with the mouse for a while before ending the game. Now, Brian was comparing himself to the cat and Cornelia was the mouse in his palm.
Cornelia just smiled, ignoring him, and focused on her own business.
