Pandora replied, “Last time when Steven came over with you, I noticed he seemed to enjoy my cooking, so I sent him a pack of cornbread and some hot sauce before I left.” “Steven doesn’t really like those foods, so please don’t send him anything in the future. It would be a waste if he just throws them away Plus, his girlfriend could get the wrong idea and think we’re up to something” Hannah said.

Pandora explained, “Steven helped us when we were down and out. We should be grateful. I couldn’t offer him much, so I just sent him some local goodies. I didn’t mean anything by it.”

“Let it slide this time, but please don’t do it again.” Hannah said.

Pandora was a strong–willed woman, a real fierce woman at home Hannah hardly saw her gentle side growing up. But today, the way Pandora was looking at her, calling her name so tenderly, Hannah’s heart was melting.

“Mom, just spit it out” Hannah said.

“Over the years, you’ve sent quite a bit of money home, and Steven has been pretty generous with us. So Jeo and I saved up some money. We bought two houses with it, one for you and one for Farley” Pandora said.

Hannah said, “I have a place to live, you don’t have to…”

Pandora cut her off, “You can choose not to live at home, but you must have a house of your own. This way, no matter what you do, you can have peace of mind. Even in the worst–case scenario, you’ve got a safety net.”

Hannah looked at Farley who was busy tidying up and said, “Farley is about to start high school, and then he’ll go to college. Money will be needed for lots of things”

“You don’t need to worry about his tuition. He’s not only self–sufficient, he can even bring in money for the family” Pandora said.

“Oh? Farley, how do you manage that?” Hannah asked curiously.

“It’s just the usual stuff, nothing special. Farley replied.

Pandora said, “Although Farley may seem like a fun–loving, food–loving kid in everyday life, he’s a real brainiac. His grades are top–notch. He ranked first in the city this year. so top high schools are fighting to recruit him. Not only did they waive his tuition, they also awarded him a scholarship of several thousand dollars.”

Hannah was surprised, “Farley is that brilliant?”

Farley gave her a “you’re just realizing how awesome I am” look.

Hannah said proudly, “Farley have top high schools fighting over him and also get a scholarship. His future is definitely going to be bright.”
