Chapter 1281
An irate Granny Luisa yelled, âBen, have you gone mute or deaf? Or are you just choosing to ignore me now?â
After a while, Benâs voice sounded on the phone, âGranny Luisa, our Hartley Group has been sna tched by Brennen. Iâve got loads to handle right now, gotta hang up. Iâll drop by the Hartley Mansion when I get a chanceâ
He hung up then, ballsy as ever
News of Hartley Group changing hands and Brennen being back in power was all over the place. If Ben could still act so nonchalantly, it meant Hartley Groupâs matters werenât a big deal to him. Granny Luisa stopped worrying then, âThe cheek of this lad to hang up on meâ
At the same time, another voice reached Granny Luisaâs ears, âGranny Luisa, youâre here too?â
It was Dr. Lester, who seemed to have aged significantly since she last saw him. âDr. Lester, what happened to you? You look like youâve aged years overnight.â Granny Luisa asked.
Dr. Lester replied, âIâm fine. I heard Cornelia was hospitalized due to an allergy, so I came to deliver medication.â
Granny Luisa asked, âDid Marc send you?â
Dr. Lester replied, âYesâ
Granny Luisa asked again, âHow did you find out about Corneliaâs hospitalization?â
Dr. Lester replied, âI guess it wouldnât be difficult for Marc to find out.â
Granny Luisa asked, âCornelia and Marc are divorced, theyâre not a couple anymore. Why is he still keeping tabs on Cornelia? Whatâs the meaning of this?â
Dr. Lester replied, âWho said Marc is tailing Cornelia?â
Granny Luisa retorted, âDo you think I canât think or see for myself?â
Dr. Lester was speechless.
Granny Luisa added, âThe Hartley Group is back in Brennenâs hands. You mustâve seen the news.â
Dr. Lester replied, âYes, I did.â
Granny Luisa said, âAt a time like this, instead of dealing with the Hartley Group, Marc is worrying about his ex-wifeâs allergy. Should I praise him for being caring or scold him for losing the Hartley Group?â
Dr. Lester replied, âGranny Luisa, Iâm just Marcâs personal doctor. I have no idea about the Hartley Group.â
Granny Luisa retorted, âWhether you truly donât know or just donât want to say, we both know the truth.â
Granny Luisa had full faith in Marcusâs abilities. She didnât believe Brennen could sn atch the Hartley Group from Marcus. Unless Marcus didnât want the Hartley Group. Or the Hartley Group was bait set by him to lure Brennen into a trap.
If it was the latter, Brennen being in control of the Hartley Group now meant he would be doomed soon.
Dr. Lester didnât elaborate further. He handed the medication to Patricia, âPatricia, this medication is different from the one I gave Cornelia before. It could alter a personâs resistance. If Cornelia takes it continuously, she might no longer be allergic to peanuts.â
Holding the medication, Patricia felt like she was holding a hot potato, âGranny Luisa, didnât Grandpa Augustine say we shouldnât go near Nelly anymore?â
Granny Luisa replied, âGive the medication to Grandpa Augustine and explain its purpose. He will understand.â
Patricia responded, âOkayâ She took a few steps before running back, âDr. Lester, I forgot to ask. Does this medication contain hormones? Can pregnant women take it?â
