Chapter 1334
She was up and at âem in the kitchen from the crack of dawn.
Lately, sheâd been getting a taste of the good life with all the great grub sent over from Goldieâs house. So, she thought it was a good time to whip up something delicious herself as a thank you to Goldie.
Goldie was big on desserts, so Comelia figured sheâd probably have a sweet tooth. She decided to make two of her special desserts: caramel pudding and nut cookies.
By the time she finished with both desserts, it was around 10 a.m. She texted Goldie: [Hey Goldie, Iâm about to head over. You good?]
Goldie texted back immediately: [Sure thing. Iâll meet you at your place.]
Comelia replied: [No need to bother, I can make it myself.]
After sending the message, she grabbed her desserts and headed out. She was surprised to see a beautiful middle-aged woman standing at her doorstep just as she left her yard.
The lady gave her a warm smile. âYou must be Nelly.â
Comelia asked, âAre you Goldie?â
This was the first time Cornelia had met Goldie. The food had always been delivered by Goldieâs house help. Cornelia had been meaning to pay her a visit, but she seemed to be always super busy.
Goldie shook Corneliaâs hand, saying warmly, âYeah, Iâm Goldie. Nice to meet ya.â
Cornelia said, âIâm glad to meet you too. Goldie, these are some desserts I made. Try them out and see if you like them.â
Goldie took the dessert box, saying, âIf you made it, weâre bound to love it.â
She didnât specify who âweâ were. She just casually looked back.
Cornelia laughed, âIâve been meaning to visit you for a while now, but you always seemed so busy. I kept missing the chance.â
Goldie said, âIâm usually swamped with work, so Iâm rarely home. When I am, I love to cook. Some people have told me my food sucks, but youâve been kind, praising it.â
Cornelia said, âSucks? Your desserts are the best Iâve ever had.â
Hearing this, Goldie was over the moon, âThe snowâs getting heavier. Letâs head to my place. We have the whole day to chat.â
Comelia said, âSounds good.â
As Goldie helped Cornelia, she said, âNelly, you look like youâre about to pop.â
Cornelia nodded, âJust two more months.â
Looking at Corneliaâs round belly, Goldie asked, âNelly, are you hoping for a boy or a girl?â
Cornelia laughed, âEither boy or girl, Iâll love them just the same.â
Goldie continued, âYouâre all round and your skin is glowing. Iâm guessing itâs a girl.â
Cornelia looked surprised, âDoes having good skin mean Iâm having a girl?â
Goldie replied, âSome people say that women carrying boys become less attractive. Your skin looks great, so Iâm guessing itâs a girl.â
Cornelia said, âThatâd be nice. I love girls.â
Goldie said, âWell, boy or girl, theyâre both blessings.â
With that, they continued on to Goldieâs place.
The snow had piled up heavily overnight, and the roads in the villa area were not yet cleared. Each step they took left a deep footprint in the
snow.
Even though their houses werenât far apart, the heavy snow and Corneliaâs condition meant they took a while to get there.
Once they entered the house, Goldie handed Corneliaâs desserts to the maid, âThis is from Ms. Stewart. Please take care of it.â
The maid replied, âOf course.â
After helping Cornelia sit down, Goldie said, âNelly, I heard you grew up in Rosenberg and you love the food there. So, Iâve hired a chef from Rosenberg. Heâs prepared lunch for us today. Give it a taste and see if you like it.â
