Chapter 1337
Just a glance and Goldie quickly looked away, but Cornelia still caught it. She smirked and said, âGoldie, I was just pulling your leg, how could I possibly steal your chef?â
After she said this, Cornelia could feel Goldie let out a sigh of relief
To lighten the mood, Goldie passed Cornelia some food, âIf you really want my chef, Iâll have him cook for you at your placeâ
Cornelia didnât say anything, she just focused on eating.
Almost full, she casually mentioned, âThe dishes we had for lunch today tasted like they were cooked by someone I know.â Goldieâs hand paused slightly.
By then, Cornelia had her answer, but she continued chatting with Goldie, âMaybe itâs because Rosenbergâs dishes all taste about the same.â
Goldie responded, âOr maybe all delicious food just tastes similar. Anyway, just let me know if thereâs anything you want to eat in the future.â
Cornelia, âAlright.â
After finishing her meal and putting down her cutlery, Cornelia said to Goldie, âGoldie, I love your houseâs decor, I canât wait for you to show me around.â
Goldie clearly hesitated, but still agreed with a smile, âAlright, letâs take a tour now.â
Knowing that Goldie was hiding something, Cornelia took the initiative, âGoldie, why donât we start with your backyard?â
When she walked in, Cornelia noticed that her backyard was blocked off. She had initially thought they were renovating, but now she realized that there must be something she wasnât supposed to see
Goldie said, âItâs snowing outside and cold. Thereâs a thick layer of snow in the yard that we havenât cleaned up. We canât tour the yard, but let me show you upstairs.
Cornelia said, âOkay.â
As Goldie led Cornelia upstairs, she said, âI like to read, so I had a study built upstairs. I know you like to read too, so how about I show you the study first?
Cornelia said, âSounds good.â
Stepping onto the second floor, the first thing they saw was a door labeled âStudyâ.
Goldie opened the door, âNelly, come on in!â She suddenly let out a yell.
Cornelia asked, âGoldie, whatâs wrong?â
Goldie said, âI just bumped my elbow on the door.â
In reality, she was taken aback by the size of the study. It was bigger than a library and occupied most of the second floor. Goldie had never been upstairs before, she knew it was a study, but she didnât expect it to be this big.
Not only was the study huge, but it was also filled with books, there wasnât a single empty bookshelf.
Cornelia originally wanted to solve her doubts, but she was drawn into the enormous study and couldnât get out.
Cornelia asked, âGoldie, can I take a look at the books?â
Goldie said, âOf course, Nelly. As Iâve told you, you can treat this place like your own home, do as you please.â
After getting the green light, Cornelia picked up a book and started to browse, âGoldie, what type of books do you usually read?â
Goldie replied, âI read all kinds of books, I donât have a particular preference.â
Cornelia asked, âCan I read here?â
Goldie said, âOf course. Thereâs a sofa by the window, you can sit there if youâre tired of standing.â
Cornelia replied, âOkayâ
Goldie said, âYou read, Iâll go get you a glass of juice.â
Cornelia smiled and said, âThank you, Goldie!â
After Goldie left the room, Cornelia looked around. Sure enough, there was a surveillance camera in a corner of the room.
She looked at the camera, staring at it silently. If her guess was right, there must be someone pulling the strings behind Goldie.
