Chapter 1381
Cornelia suddenly blinked open her eyes and saw Jeremy sitting right next to her hospital bed, cradling baby in his arms.
As soon as she opened her eyes, Jeremy brought the baby up to her, âHope just opened his eyes, seemed like he was looking for her mommy.â
Cornelia glanced at the baby, whose eyes were closed. Clearly, he hadnât opened them. Jeremy quickly explained. âI swear, Iâm not pulling your leg. He really opened his eyes just now. It was so cute.â
Cornelia chuckled, âI know youâre not messing with me. Newborns canât keep their eyes open all the time.â
This wasnât a dream. Jeremy really came back. At this moment, all her anxieties vanished.
Cornelia smiled at him, âI think Iâm hungry. Is there anything to eat?â
Jeremy replied, âSure there is. Patricia and her crew prepared a bunch of yummy food. Iâll have her bring it in right away.â
âCool.â Cornelia, forgetting she was still recovering, suddenly sat up and inadvertently tugged at her abdominal wound, causing her to wince in pain.
Jeremy wanted to help, but with the baby in his arms and his left hand unable to exert much force, he could only say, âTake it slowly.â
He placed the baby next to Comelia, then hit the bedâs lift button to raise the bed. Unexpectedly, the previously quiet baby suddenly started to wail. Cornelia quickly reached out to hold the baby, but the movement triggered pain in her abdomen and she couldnât move anymore.
âI got it, just lay still.â Jeremy picked up the baby, and slowly rocking him, âShhhhâ¦â
But for some reason, the babyâs crying got louder and louder, as if he was about to blow the roof off.
Patricia, hearing the commotion, hurried over, âJeremy, Hope might be hungry, give him to Cornelia to breastfeed.â
Cornelia, being a first-time mom, didnât quite know how to breastfeed. Jeremy didnât know either, so Patricia had to take over and personally teach Cornelia.
The baby was smart and quickly found the milk. But after suckling for a while with no milk, he started fussing again.
Cornelia was also uncomfortable, her breasts were engorged but there was no milk. She looked helplessly at Patricia, âPatricia.â
Patricia drew closer, âAre your breasts engorged?â
Comelia nodded, âYeah.â
Engorged breasts but no milk was a common occurrence in postpartum women. Patricia turned to Jeremy and said, âJeremy, this is where you come in.â
Jeremy asked, âWhat do I need to do?â
Patricia. âYou need to help Cornelia promote milk production. Once thatâs done, Hope will have milk to drink.â
With that, Patricia took Hope and left the room, âYou guys do your thing. Call me when youâre done, then Iâll bring Hope back in for feeding.â
Unexpectedly, Cornelia said, âPatricia, Jeremy doesnât know how to do this. Better call the doctor to help me.â
âEven if the doctor comes, heâll still have Jeremy help.â Patricia hastily left, waiting outside with Hope.
After a while, they heard a voice from inside the room, âPatricia, you can come in now.â
Patricia walked in to see Corneliaâs cheeks as red as if they were stained with color. She teased with a smile. âYou guys are a couple, youâve been through all sorts of things together, and thereâs nothing to be embarrassed about. If you produce too much milk, and Hope canât finish it, Marc might even help out.â
Cornelia quickly interjected, âPatricia!â
