Chapter 1582
âNelly, I canât believe how much our little boy is talking now,â Hannah smiled, snuggling Hope into her arms. âMy sweet little bundle of joy is so adorable.â
Hope was barely a year old, his vocabulary limited. This was the first time Cornelia had heard him string together so many words so clearly. She leaned in to kiss Hopeâs cheek. âMy Hope, youâre so squishy and precious. Mama could just eat you up.â
As if understanding the playful threat, Hopeâs eyes widened. âMama no eat baby. Baby good.â
Cornelia chuckled. âYes, our Hope is the best. Do you want to go shopping with Mama?â
After a thoughtful pause, Hope replied, âI want Daddy.â
âYou little rascal, you prefer your daddy over your mama, huh?â Cornelia teased, passing Hope towards his father, Jeremy.
âDaddy, cuddle!â Hope requested, reaching out for his dad.e2
Jeremy took him. Jeremyâs towering figure made Hope looked even smaller and irresistibly cute in his arms. âNelly, you ladies go shopping. Iâll tag along with the little fella here.â
Cornelia said, âHope is used to taking a nap around this time, and heâll probably fall asleep soon. Could you take Hope back for a rest?â
Hannah eagerly looked at Hope, but since Hope wanted his father, she couldnât insist on taking the baby away. âNelly, can I come to your place for dinner tonight?â
âOf course.â Cornelia agreed.
Steven chimed in, âMarc, I havenât had dinner at your place yet. Arenât you going to invite me?â
Jeremy nodded. âSure, come over tonight.â
âGreat,â Steven said, grinning.
Jeremy looked down at Hope, who had already drifted off to sleep in his arms. He lowered his voice, âNelly, Iâll take the baby home. The driver can drop you off at the mall.â
âNo need. I can drive,â Cornelia replied.
âAlright.â
The group split up. Jeremy took Hope home, while Cornelia drove Hannah and Steven to the mall. Hannah naturally took the front seat, leaving Steven in the back. Steven offered to pay for the shopping spree, but Hannah shot him down. âDo we look like we need your money?â
âI know you donât. Itâs just a gesture,â Steven replied, attempting to salvage the situation.
Hannah shrugged, âWe want smoothies. Go buy us two cups.
Steven nodded, âSure, what flavors?â
Two cups of avocado smoothies,â Hannah ordered.
Steven left to fulfill the task. As soon as he was gone, Cornelia gave Hannah a thumbsâup. âIs that the same Steven we know?â
âSometimes, I wonder the same thing,â Hannah confessed. âBut yes, especially in bed, heâs still as passionate as ever.â
Cornelia laughed, âI mean, for a man as proud as him to lower his head, he must really love you.â
Hannah scoffed, âMen are such fools. When I showered him with love, he took it for granted. Now that weâre divorced, heâs like a lost puppy trying to win me back.â
