Chapter 231
Leonardo was just venting; he already had his own answer in mind, and he didnât need Marcusâs response
But Marcus answered anyway: âBecause my wife is from Rosenberg, I have to learn to eat Rosenbergâs food.â
Upon hearing this, Leonardo had a sudden thought in his head: Marcus was screwed!
Marcus, who had never shown interest in women for over two decades and thought dating was a complete waste of time, was now changing his eating habits of over twenty years for a woman.
Was this still the same Marcus?
Had he been possessed by someone elseâs soul?
Leonardo believed Marcus would regret it. âWell, go ahead and learn to eat Rosenbergâs food. Iâll stick with our Riverton food; itâs light and nutritious.â
After he said this, Abigail got pissed off and asked, âWhat do you mean by that?â
Leonardo: âWhat do you mean?â
Abigail, âSo are you saying Rivertonâs food is nutritious but Rosenbergâs isnât?â
Leonardo, âAre you nuts? Did I say that?â
Abigail, âEven if you didnât say it, you thought it. If you donât admit it, youâre just a coward.â
Leonardo, âWhat did I do to deserve this tonight, dealing with someone like you?â
The meal hadnât even started, and Leonardo was already ticked off.
He looked at Marcus and Cornelia; they were just eating their own food, seemingly oblivious to the argument going on.
He said, âMarc, youâve changed. You really donât care about me anymore.â
Marcus was quietly moving the meat Cornelia liked to her side, not hearing a word Leonardo said.
This type of meat was something Marcus would never touch before, and no one else could eat it if he was present.
But seeing Cornelia enjoying it so much today, he didnât find it repulsive for the first time. âIs it really tasty?â
Cornelia nodded vigorously, swallowed the food in her mouth, and vividly described how delicious it was: âPresident Hartley, this meat is so tender, it melts in your mouth. Itâs really delicious; do you want to try it?â
Marcus was okay with her eating it, but trying it himself so soon was a little hard to swallow. âI canât handle food thatâs too greasy.â
âRight.â Cornelia was so absorbed in eating that she almost forgot this was Marcusâs taboo: âPresident Hartley, Iâll eat it far away from you.â
Marcus, âNo need, just enjoy your meal; donât mind me.â
Zack and Abigail were also busy eating, having no time for chitâchat. The food at this Rosenberg restaurant was expensive for a good reason; it was indeed tastier than outside.
Everyone was having a good time; only Leonardo was feeling downcast. âMarc, youâve changed! Youâve really changed! You donât care about me anymore!â
He yelled out loud, finally getting Marcusâs attention, âShould I care about you?â
Leonardo was even more heartbroken. âShouldnât our friendship from growing up together mean something?â
