Chapter 389
âDad, Mom, are you still giving them money?â Abigail was hearing this for the first time and she just couldnât put up with their overly sympathetic behavior.
She knew her father was a soft touch, always ready to help anyone no matter how difficult the situation, even willing to dig into his own pockets, which had cost him dearly over the years.
If he kept this up, theyâd be bled dry.
Today, she had to make her move. âDad, can you please kick them out? If you donât, Iâm calling the cops. This is our home. Why should Mom and I have to leave?â
âCall the cops? Ridiculous! Youâre trying to pull a Cornelia?â The woman sneered, always bringing up Cornelia, âGo ahead, call the cops. Worst-case scenario, weâll spend a few days in jail where the foodâs free. Weâll save some money.â
Abigailâs dad grabbed her, âAbigail, cut it out. Weâre family. Donât stir up trouble. You only come back once a year. Letâs just enjoy our time together.â
âEnjoy our time together? Really?â Abigail shoved her parents into their room and locked the door from outside, âIâm taking over Youâre not allowed to meddle anymore.â
If she didnât teach these freeloaders a lesson, she wouldnât know who really ran the show around here.
By the time Zack got there after Abigailâs call, the woman and her son were sitting on the floor, happily munching on chicken legs.
Zack gave Abigail a look and said, âAbigail, tally up the damage theyâve done to your place. The more, the merrier. Itâs called criminal property damage; the punishmentâs severe, and theyâll be locked up for a few years at least.â
âPfft, who are you trying to scare? Cornelia tried to sue her uncle last time and look what happened? He only spent a few days in jail.â
Zack ignored her and continued to talk to Abigail, âEven if they donât get jailed, itâs okay. All the damage was done by the kid, right? Make him pay for it. If heâs underage and canât pay, well, thatâs just tough.â
The woman proudly raised her chin; she knew the score.
Zack added, âAnd even if we canât pin him now, itâs fine. A criminal record is enough to screw up his life, He wonât find a decent job and no family would marry their daughter to a man with a record.â
The woman didnât know jack about law, but the thought of her son not being able to find a good job or marry when he grew up got her anxious, âDonât drag my kid into this.â
Abigail ignored her and said to Zack, âZack, isnât your good friend in charge of our area? Give him a call. We need to fix this. I wonât stand for this kind of cr ap.â
Zack pulled out his phone, âIâll call him right now.â
The woman suddenly lunged forward, knocking the phone out of Zackâs hand. The phone hit the floor and shattered.
It was a spare phone that Zack had prepared beforehand. He didnât lose his cool, âAbigail, you have cameras in your house, right? Did they catch her breaking my phone?â
Abigail pointed at the camera on the ceiling, âYep, itâs all on tape.â
Zack said, âThat was a brand new iPhone and only two months old. It cost me over two grand. So, are you gonna cough up the cash now, or should I hand the evidence over to the cops and have them make you pay?â
