Chapter 425
Patricia personally prepared breakfast, and it was a feast, even including spaghetti Bolognese which Cornelia loved.
Eyeing the table full of her favorite breakfast dishes, Comelia was pleasantly surprised, âPatricia, aside from President Hartleyâs favorites, are all these for me?â
Marcus felt that Cornelia had a special charm. Seeing her so happy over breakfast, his mood also brightened, and his appetite increased significantly.
Patricia served the dishes with a big smile, âYes, theyâre all for you. Try the spaghetti Bolognese, does it taste like your grandmaâs?â
Comelia didnât usually eat pasta in the morning, but she couldnât resist Patriciaâs enthusiasm. As she tasted the rich pasta with the special Bolognese sauce, she felt a sudden wave of emotion and said, âPatricia, when did you learn to make such delicious spaghetti Bolognese? Itâs exactly like my grandmaâs.â
What Patricia couldnât tell Cornelia was that she had asked Granny Rebecca how to make Bolognese sauce when she went to Southern Peak to spend Christmas with two grannies.
When Granny Rebecca learned that her main job was to take care of the couple and that she wanted to learn to make Bolognese sauce for Comelia, she happily shared all her secret recipes.
When Patricia returned to Riverton, Granny Rebecca held her hand and advised, âNelly can be a hotâhead sometimes, if she offends you in any way, I apologize on her behalf.â
Patricia quickly reassured Granny Rebecca, âYouâre being too kind. Nelly is a delightful girl, and I really like her. Besides, even if she has a temper and gives me a piece of her mind, Iâm paid to handle it, so thereâs no hard feelings.â
Patricia had been working for the Hartley family for many years. Despite being treated as a family member and having the best. conditions, she never forgot her place.
She always remembered she was a hired cook, paid to work. Unlike some nannies who became presumptuous when treated well by their employers, forgetting their place.
Patricia was all smiles, âNelly, if you like my cooking, you should come home more often. Iâll prepare dinner early tonight, and you and Marc can come over after work.â
Cornelia replied, âPatricia, Iâm sorry! Since I got back, I havenât seen my grandmother and friends, they must miss me. I need to visit them. When I have time, Iâll come and taste your cooking.â
That was part of the reason. The main one being that, aside from work, Cornelia didnât want to always be at Marcusâs house.
Patricia didnât press, âAlright, come when you can.â Her eyes showed obvious disappointment, making Cornelia feel as if she owed Patricia something.
As Cornelia was eating, Patricia asked, âNelly, what kind of home decor style do you like?â
Cornelia replied, âI like simple, elegant, and cozy styles.â
Patricia continued, âDo you like the current style of this home?â
Cornelia replied, âThis is President Hartleyâs house, what does it matter whether I like it or not?â
Patricia glanced at Marcus, then said, âMarc is bringing his wife home, heâs worried she wonât like the current style, so he wanted your opinion. Youâre both young women and from the same place, so your tastes might be similar.â
Cornelia didnât want to answer casually, âEveryoneâs tastes differ when it comes to home decor, youâd better ask her directly.â
The silent Marcus finally spoke, âPatricia, let her eat first.â
