Chapter 500
Natalia snapped back to reality and tried her best to mimic Corneliaâs way of speaking. âI heard youâre drunk. Iâm here to take you homeâ
âAlright, letâs go home Marcus tried to reach for her hand, but it froze just before he could touch her Even though his mind was foggy, he remembered that he was Marcus, not Jeremy Cornelia would reject any physical contact with Marcus.
âLetâs go He tried to stand but his legs gave way and he sank back onto the couch.
Natalia quickly moved to help him up. âAre you okay?â
As she got closer, Marcus caught a whiff of her strong perfume. He scrunched up his nose and smoothly avoided her touch, âI might be a bit drunk, but Iâm fine. I can walk on my ownâ
Rebuffed, Natalia didnât know what to do. She looked at Zavier pleadingly.
Zavier chimed in, âCornelia, He is so drunk. He probably canât walk out of here. Thereâs a villa next door, why donât you help him rest there for a bit?â
Natalia asked, âPresident Hartley, would you like to rest?â
âAlright Marcus managed to pull himself up, refusing Nataliaâs help.
Zaver asked, âMarc, do you need my help?â
Marcus replied, âNo needâ
Zavier handed the room key to Natalia, âCornelia, please take good care of him. If you need anything, just give me a call. Iâll be on standby.â
Natalia took the key and hurriedly caught up with Marcus.
âMarc, all the best! Zavier watched their retreating figures, a determined glint in his eyes.
If he didnât know that the woman wasnât Cornelia, he wouldnât be able to tell the difference, especially not a drunken Marcus. By the time Marcus sobered up, everything would have been done.
He was eager to see how Marcus would manage to keep Cornelia By then, Marcus should understand how he was feeling right now.
His assistant approached him, âMr. Rivera, itâs dawn. Would you like to get some rest?â
Zavier lit up a cigarette with a smile and walked into a posh room, âThe stage is set, the showâs about to start. How can I miss it?â
It took a while to reach the room because Marcus was unsteady on his feet. Natalia opened the door with the room key and stepped aside for Marcus to enter first.
The room was spacious with minimal decoration, making the bed look even larger. Marcus walked straight to the bed and collapsed onto it, motionless.
âPresident Hartleyâ¦â Natalia softly called out. When he didnât respond, she gently sat down next to him.
