Chapter 604
Clair asked: âWhatâs up? Spill the beans.â
Cameron replied âGuess what, someoneâs been seen sporting a fake version of your necklaceâ
Clair asked âWho?â
Cameron replied âMarcusâ assistant, that woman named Corneliaâ
The name âCorneliaâ stabbed into Clairâs heart like a thorn, making her teeth clench in rage. âHer again. Why is it always her?â
Cameron asked âWhatâs your game plan?â
Clair shot back. If sheâs the one wearing the fake, then itâs her embarrassment, not mine. Whatâs it to me?â
Cameron replied. Tlike the way you think.â
Clair sneered âThat woman wonât get another chance. Iâll make sure she leaves Riverton and never comes back.â
Cameron stated âDadâs point is, either we, the Reese family, face embarrassinent tonight, or she does. You decide.â
Clair replied âGot itâ
For over two decades, she had met all sorts of people and done all sorts of things to keep her footing in Riverton, to preserve her status as Mrs. Reese.
Dealing with a young girl? Piece of cake.
Tonight, the spotlight was on the Reese family Everyone else was just a sideshow Unless someone deliberately tried to steal the scene, they would hardly be noticedâ¦
However, Marcus was the exception. No matter where he went, he was always the center of attention.
When word got out that Marcus was coming to the birthday party, everyone from the Reese family came to greet him.
Granger, all smiles, shook Marcus hand and patted it âMarc, you finally made it.â
Granger had a lot of connections in the business world, and many people respected his dignity, but he knew that to Marcus, he was no different from anyone else.
He tried to cozy up to Marcus, but Marcus might not appreciate it. That didnât matter, though..
What mattered was how others perceived his relationship with Marcus. What mattered was how the media reported on his relationship with Marcus.
However, Granger didnât anticipate that as soon as he let go of Marcusâ hand, Marcus assistant would hand Marcus an antibacterial wipe.
Marcus took the wet wipes and repeatedly wiped the places where Granger had touched over and over again.
Grangerâs face turned green, but Marcus just said indifferently, âMr. Reese, happy birthday!â
The title âMr Reeseâ sounded strangely formal.
Granger was inwardly frustrated, but he didnât dare show his anger. âYour concern is appreciatedâ
He glanced at Cameron, âMarc, Iâll have Cameron keep you company I have to greet the other guests, but Iâll catch up with you for a drink later.â
Granger finished talking, but Marcus didnât seem interested in entertaining him at all.
A man who would abandon his wife for a mistress couldnât be anything good
Marcus detested such people the most.
