Chapter 710
Marcus didnât say anything more, and just stared at her. Corneliaâs heart started to race under his gaze. âIâm busy making money.â
She held up her phone, showing him her chat history fearlessly. âTaylorâs waiting for my reply, can you let go of me now?â
Marcus, sharpâeyed, spotted a compliment about his looks from her chat. He chuckled, âYou know, you can do this stuff in broad daylight, no need to hide in the bathroom like youâre doing something naughty.â
Comelia, âI was worried youâd get mad.â
Marcus, âYouâre afraid of me getting mad?â
Comelia ignored him, turning her attention back to her phone.
She sent a new photo to Taylor, saying, [âGo ahead and post it. As long as it grabs attention, Iâll take the heat. I wonât let you get involved.â]
With Corneliaâs assurance, Taylor had nothing to worry about. [âAs long as you can keep your word, the headline Iâll write will definitely grab attention. Iâll get on it, weâll see the result in an hour.â]
Cornelia, [âCool!â]
After sending her message, Cornelia looked up to find Marcusâ gaze on her. He reached out and ruffled her hair. âGreedy girl.â
Cornelia, âIâm making money legally. How is that being greedy?â
He had no counter for that, âThe grannies are waiting for us to eat.â
Comelia, âThen letâs hurry, we canât keep them waiting too long.â
The dinner that night was a feast. Two of the dishes were specially prepared by Patricia, who had rushed over from Celestial Chateau.
Patricia was in high spirits today, practically floating as she walked. She could finally get to know the new madame openly and shower her with affection.
The elders asked Patricia to sit and have dinner with everyone, leaving the serving to the younger servants. Patricia declined, as she wanted to serve the madame personally. âNelly, this soup is for you. Have some to warm your stomach.â
Cornelia, âThanks, Patricia! Stop fussing over me and have your meal.â
Patricia looked at Cornelia, her eyes filled with adoration. âI just want to serve you well.â
Granny Luisa understood Patriciaâs feelings perfectly. They both adored Cornelia, who was so beautiful that they wished they could keep their eyes on her all the time.
Granny Luisa filled Corneliaâs plate with food. âNelly, I know you like this one. I had Rosenbergâs chef make this specially for you. Does it taste as good as the one your grandma makes?â
Cornelia quickly took a bite of the meat and chewed slowly. After swallowing, she nodded. âGranny, it tastes great.â
Marcus, who was relegated to the seat across from Cornelia, could only watch as everyone fussed over her.
This family wasnât right for him.
Everyone was busy caring for Cornelia, leaving Marcus unnoticed. This was his first time being so blatantly ignored in this house. All because his wife was too likable.
Near the end of the meal, Granny Luisa finally remembered Marcus. She had a servant bring him a bowl of soup. âMarc, this soup was specially made for you. You should drink it while itâs hot.â
The soup had a medicinal smell that Marcus didnât like, but considering it was his grannyâs thoughtfulness, he drank it anyway.
Not long after consuming the soup, Marcus began to feel a bit feverish.
