Cornelia said, âI donât want to work anymore either. I want to live a relaxed life, retire early, and move into the seaside villa that Grandma gave me. I wish to wake up every day to the view of the sea, feel the ocean breeze, and enjoy the sea view. I no longer want to be bound by strict work hours, stuck in traffic every day while commuting, or be constantly on the go following the demands of superior. I just want to break free from the busy work life.â
Abigail said, âCount me in! Cornelia, just quit already. Iâll be your nanny, cooking, doing laundry, and taking care of the garden. Just pay me a decent wage. But, make sure to reserve a room for me with a good view. So, I can see the sea from my bed.â
Zack said, âAre you guys daydreaming or what?â
Abigail said, âCornelia is a billionaire now. These dreams can definitely become a reality.â
Cornelia said, âZack, donât be jelly. Thereâs a room for Abby in my villa, and of course, thereâs one for you too. I got it all planned out. Us three, plus granny, we would all move in together. We can take a stroll at home, tend the garden. Life would be super comfy.â
He was not part of her plan. She claimed she wanted to spend her life with him, but he wasnât even in her future plans.
This realization, like a bucket of cold water, instantly doused Marcusâ enthusiasm. But then, he heard her gentle voice, âJeremy isnât much of a crowd person. We could reserve a whole floor for him. When weâre too loud, he can enjoy his solitude upstairs. When he feels like hanging out, he can join us.â
He was not absent from her plans. He was part of her plan, and she actually had considered a lot for him.
Marcus watched her silently.
He didnât know how long heâd been standing behind her before Cornelia finished her call. The moment she looked up, she saw him through the mirror.
She turned around, gave him a sweet smile, then ran towards him with paper and pen in hand.
Instinctively, Marcus opened his arms, ready to catch her.
She stopped in front of him, lifted the paper to his eyes, and said, âPresident Hartley, look, I made money again.â
His attention was entirely on her face, unable to shift to the paper in her hand. He watched her smiling, her lips moving as she spoke, and listened to the sound of her voiceâ¦
In that moment, how he wished to weave her into his life!
He tried to adjust his emotions, shifted his gaze onto the paper, and finally saw what sheâd written.
Chapter 722
Cornelia pointed at the numbers on the paper, excitedly saying, âTonight, I sold your picture and made a big chunk of cash. Adding it all up, I can pay off my mortgage now. Even though I didnât make as much as you, at least I wonât be a burdenâ¦â
So, this was why she was working so hard, always busy.
He gently stroked her cheek, looked into her eyes, letting her see the sincerity in his, âCornelia, youâve never been a burden to me.â
Cornelia looked at him, peering deeply into the sincerity reflected in his eyes, âI know Iâve never been a burden to you, but I feel like I am. I never thought Iâd marry you, or that my husband would be so wealthy. Suddenly realizing that youâre my Jeremy, my husband, can you imagine how scared and insecure that makes me?â
