He raised his glass, “First round’s on me, let’s toast to my birthday!”

But Comelia was looking after Marcus, “Zack, his stomachs not good, water will do.”

Zack shot them a look, “Since when did he become so weak that he can’t handle a drink?”

Marcus said, “It’s cool. It’s Zack’s birthday, I can drink less.”

“It’s not always me taking care of him. He takes care of me too.” Cornelia said with a smile, “Zack, happy birthday! Hope you find your dream girl and start a family soon. Then we can all hang out together!”

Abigail added, “Zack, happy birthday! Hope you find the girl of your dreams tomorrow.”

Marcus and Nash also wished Zack a happy birthday.

After the birthday wishes, Cornelia and Abigail started serving Zack food and drinks, finally making him feel important. He said, “You two better remember, just because you’ve got husbands, it doesn’t mean you can forget about me.”

Cornelia and Abigail both said, “In our hearts, you’re always the most important.”

Their words lifted the cloud that had been hanging over Zack all morning.

Feeling a bit triumphant, he glanced at Marcus, “Mr. Hartley, why aren’t you eating? Better hurry before the dishes turn cold.”

He turned to Nash, “Nash, your stomach’s okay, right?”

Nash replied, “I’m good.”

Zack said, “Then let’s have a drink.”

Nash immediately raised his glass, “Sure.”

One drink wasn’t enough, Zack got Nash to down several more.

After a few drinks, the normally talkative Zack became even more chatty, “Cornelia, Abigail, you two are so mean. We agreed to stick together till the end, but you two ditched me for your own love interests, leaving me all alone.”

Abigail said, “Don’t make yourself sound so helpless. Who said you’re alone? Aren’t we still here for you?”

Zack said, “This afternoon, you need to go back to Nash’s hometown with him. And Nelly will surely leave with her boyfriend. It’s my birthday, and you two are leaving me. Doesn’t that bother you at all?”

The more he thought about it, the more upset Zack got, even shedding a few tears.
