Chapter 946
Marcus said, âRecently, I noticed that granny acts weird whenever she hears the name Clair. She told me she knew someone by that name. So, she asked for a picture of Clair to see if it was the same person. I got the picture and had someone look into Clairâs background. Turns out, sheâs from Rosenberg, was married once, and has a daughter thereâ
Cornelia asked, âYou knew all this and didnât tell me?â
Marcus replied, âI didnât want you to know you have a mother like that. I hoped you wouldnât ever have to know who your mother is, that you wouldnât have to suffer like I didâ
Cornelia gave a bitter smile, âNow weâre in the same boat, nobodyâs looking down on anyone anymore.â
Marcus said, âIf you want, I can keep Clair away from you, so she wonât bother you.â
Cornelia responded, âNo worries, I actually want to see how shameless she can be
Marcus asked, âShe knew you were her daughter but denied it. I donât understand why she suddenly came to Rosenberg to recognize you?â
Cornelia replied, âSeems like you, the big boss of the Hartley Group, only care about making money and donât understand the ugly peopleâs mindâ
Cornelia continued, âShe didnt want to recognize me before because she didnât know my husband was you. To her, I was of no use, and could even be a hindrance to her success, so she wanted to get rid of me. This morning her daughter Natalia video called me. You were in the video, and then Clair came running to Rosenberg. Clearly, she came for you. She wants to recognize you as her sonâinâlaw, not me as her daughter.â
Mentioning Natalia, Marcus thought of something, âCornelia, you might have a sister out there.â
The news left Cornelia blank, and it took her a while to recover, âWhat did you say? Can you repeat that?â
Marcus said, âAyden overheard Clair talking to someone, she said your father never knew he had another daughter.â
Cornelia grabbed Marcusâs hand anxiously. âTell me, whereâs my sister?â
Marcus said. âIâve sent people to look, but the timeline doesnât add up.â
Cornelia asked, âExplain.â
Marcus said, âClair left Rosenberg in September 2000. She was pregnant when she left, and your father didnât know. She wouldnât have given birth until seven or eight months later. Natalia was born in January 2002. Thereâs only a year and three months in between, and itâs impossible for her to get pregnant twice in that time.â
Cornelia asked, âYou mean she might have left Rosenberg pregnant with my dadâs child, and possibly aborted the baby to marry a rich man?â
Marcus replied, âThatâs one possibilityâ
Cornelia asked, âAny other possibilities?â
Marcus said, âWe canât rule out the Reese family faking Nataliaâs birth date.â
Cornelia said, âSo Natalia could be my dadâs daughter, my real sister?â
