Chapter 30: Chapter 29

“I want to bite you,”

Kalisten said with a blank face that seemed to have calmed down a bit.

“Do you feel better?”

“No.”

It was heartbreaking that he was still shedding tears pitifully.

“Will it get better if you bite me?”

“It gets better when I touch you.”

His low voice speaking seriously made my heart soften. Above all, it was the first time I had seen him so weak and vulnerable.

“Alright, I understand.”

I offered him my hand so he could bite me. Then he tilted his head and approached.

“I want to ask… Ugh— !”

He bit my finger with a sharp squeeze, because he had fangs, it didn’t hurt that much although I felt pressure. Not only did his teeth touch my finger, but I also felt something soft tickle me.

“That tickles… ”

Then he pressed me down completely with his large body and glared at me while biting my fingers, palm to wrist.

“You’re going to be alright, Kal.”

I stroked his hair with my unbitten hand, and he stopped biting. I hugged him tightly to make sure he was completely stable.

When I hugged him tightly, he hugged me too. My back was numb because his thick arms were on the floor, but it was tolerable.

That’s how we fell asleep together.

I must have been lying underneath him before I fell asleep, but when I opened my eyes, I was completely engulfed in a hug by Kalisten. He didn’t react much to my movements as he was completely asleep. So I tried to reach out to a necklace that was nearby.

Because he was holding my waist so tightly, I couldn’t get out.

“Ugh… .”

My fingertips touched the string. I tried to scratch it towards me against the floor, but it didn’t pull easily. So I did my best to scratch again, but after getting a little closer, I couldn’t reach it again.

“Oh… .”

Perhaps he thought I was struggling, Kalisten hugged me tightly and embraced my outstretched arms. Because of this, I couldn’t move my arms.

I need the necklace before he wakes up.

My heart was pounding with anxiety.

It was then—

– beep!

I looked forward and froze with the tension that felt like my heart would stop.

“What are you doing?”

“…..”

“What’s this?”

Looking offended, he came closer and grabbed my necklace and said,

“Come here.”

But I couldn’t go there. So I looked at him as if asking for help, and he sighed; his eyes lit up with a red glow.

The red illumination of the eyes was a phenomenon that occurred when using an ability. He opened Kalisten’s arms. Thanks to him, I was able to move again.

When I got up from the floor, he hung my necklace on, so I stayed quiet. And then I had to follow him as he gently took my hand and led me.

He looked a little angry, but he was still smiling, so I was at a loss for a moment.

So I looked at him without avoiding eye contact, signalling I wanted to say something. Then he stopped walking and looked back at me.

He was obviously a man who liked to hold hands. Seeing that even though he was angry, he wouldn’t let go.

“Alec.”

“Uh.”

“I’m glad that Alec came here.”

Thanks to you, I found the necklace and no one found out that I was a woman.

“Thank you for your help.”

He seemed angry that I didn’t properly thank him, so I made sure to say it. One of my former co-workers was like that. Because there are people who don’t like it if you say thanks, thank you, sorry, etc belatedly.

“I feel weird.”

“Did you have a hard time at work?”

“Yes, assignments are always hard. But I think it’s harder for me that you are held by him than my missions. What’s wrong with me?”

He said I was his toy. Come to think of it, the thought of losing a  possession of his could make him feel bad.

There are still 10 days left. This lab will be destroyed and he may die… in the future, I may die too.

I didn’t want to die.

Kalisten’s awakening was not far off, but it seemed to me that my death at Alexis Rainier’s hands was more immanate.

So I took his hand with the hand not held by him and declared:

“If something is bothering you, please tell me everything.”

“Why should I? Who are you?”

“I—I am Alec’s toy.”

He softened as if he understood my words and noted:

“That’s right. You are.”

And then he started to laugh. Again with a grin like an authentically insane person.

“Let’s go to my room.”

“All right.”

As Alexis Rainier looked at me with a grin, I beamed at him in the same way. Then, the sharp look he had before erased and he was smiling brightly.
