Chapter 10
Liam nodded Yupâ He replied, popping the âpâ
She looked speechlessâ But⦠But why?!â
He stared deeply into her eyesâ Because Iâm in a tight spot and I really need thisâ
âItâs urgent âHe added, a pleading expression written all over his face.
* Let me get this right, youâre having a dinner at your parentâs place, right?â She asked.
He nodded âYeahâ
âSo you want me to act as your girlfriend?â She asked quietly.
He nodded once more â Fake girlfriend, yup
She glowered at him â I know you meant Fake girlfriend, you donât have to emphasize it â She ended her words with a roll of her eyeballs.
Liam sighed, she was one difficult woman âI didnât mean it that way yunno, and youâve got a large mouth under that innocent face if i must say
Î
âIâm still your boss, remember? He added under his breath. The woman was really getting under his nerves and help or not, he had to set the records straight.
She seemed to calm down a bit but was still a spitfire neverthelessâ Sorry, my badâ
He sighed againâ Itâs fine, I guess. I just needed your help, thatâs all. So, you in or not?â
âI could pay you for it, if you want â He offered.
âI would be taking your time after all so paying you money is justifiedâ He added in a light tone.
Carla quickly thought of the odds of accompanying him to the dinner. Did she have anything to lose? No. She remembered Jennyâs warning but shoved it away. She could never fall for her boss, could she? She was a bit confused. Liam had not made any advances on her and he had not given her any reason to believe he wanted to bed her. She sighed inwardly. Jenny would be shocked when she heard she agreed to be her bossâs date to a dinner party on her first day of work.
Itâs just a dinner party, right? She just had to play his fake girlfriend, thatâs all. He had looked sincere when he asked her for help or was it all a facade? Was she just a new game to him? Well, she had no choice but to help him since there was no other person he could ask. And it was cool to hear he would pay her to show his appreciation. But she knew she wouldnât accept the money.
She nodded, resigned to her fateâ I donât have a choice, do I?â
He gave her a charming smile I guess not â
But youâre always free to back out of this before itâs too late, I wonât hold it against youâ He said in all seriousness.
She shook her headâ Iâll do it. So what time is the party?â
He smiled at her gratefully Thanks Carla, you just saved me from having to make up stories for my motherâ
She smiled back Itâs fine, so what time is the party?â She repeated the question she asked before.
âItâs not a party, Carla, itâs a small family dinner. The purpose of the dinner is to see my girlfriend He explained gently, and smiled at the word girlfriendâ.
She nodded slowly and her mouth rounded in an âoh manner.
âWhat time is the dinner then?â She asked in a light tone, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
*Half past seven, I think. So what time should I appear at your doorstep?â He asked in the same light tone.
She looked lost in thought for a while I should be done at half past six, is that okay? *
He nodded âYup, so Iâll pick you up at exactly half past sixâ
âOkayâ She said and stood up to leave.
Should I drop you off?â He asked eagerly, already picking up his car keys.
She laughed No Iâll manage, thanks thoughâ
His face fell and he sighed dramatically.
She laughed at the face he made, finding it funny.
âWhatâs so funny?â He asked with a raised eyebrow.
âNothing sirâ She answered teasingly.
âLam will do â He intoned.
âLiamâ She said so softly that he wouldnât hear her if he didnât listen well.
He felt his heart constricted on hearing his name from her lips and something unclenched within him, he wasnât sure what it was. All he knew was, he liked how his name sounded on her lips. He wanted her to say it again but managed to restrain
himself.
His eyes darkened as he stared at her â That will do
â
Carla didnât miss the lust that flashed through his eyes, it was gone in moments though. The guy was attracted to her just as she was to him. None of them was ready to take the big step and admit it.
She coughed discreetlyâ Okay,. Iâll see you later then â She turned to leave but looked back on remembering something.
âLiam?â She called out.
He looked up from his phone â Yeah?â
She frownedâ You didnât ask for my home address, do you know where I live?â
He smiled smugly and held up his phone for her to see what he had been doingâ Just found out nowâ
Carla looked incredulousâ H⦠How??â
He gave her a smug lookâ Thatâs for me to find out, you didnât expect anything less from Liam Blake, did you?â
She huffed âOh, donât be full of yourself, itâs not that hard to quickly make a research and have my place found out â She rolled her eyes in a dismissive way but looked impressed nonetheless.
He glared at her playfullyâ You should at least pretend to be impressed He whined
She laughedâ You didnât expect that from me, did you?â She threw his earlier question back at him, with the same smug look.
It was his turn to laugh âYouâre one saucy woman, I must say â His tone was light.
âI knowâ She replied smugly.
*See ya laterâ She added and walked to the door.
His eyes went down immediately to look at her ass. He still couldnât get over the fact that she didnât shake her ass intentionally, it was the way she walked. His eyes continued to bare in on her until she was out of sight.
