“It’s okay” She said and smiled at the old lady warmly. Diana calmed down finally and she wiped away her tears.

She took Carla’s hands in hers and squeezed tenderly When did you two realized you were made for each other and decided to get married?” She asked curiously.

Carla glanced at Liam quickly, but he wasn’t looking her way, instead, he was staring at his father, as though daring him to puch him off his patience limits again. Carla was at loss for words as she didn’t know what to say.

Diana smiled at her warmly and coaxed It’s alright, Carla, you can tell me. Or are you pregnant?” She asked in a whisper, searching her face for any proof to confirm her suspicion that she was indeed pregnant.

Carla blushed furiously and from where he was, Liam coughed slightly. So he had been listening in on their conversation and he had known she needed help with the question his mother asked earlier, she was going to deal with him later, she thought as she turned her attention back to Diana.

She laughed nervously Oh no, of course not. We decided to get married few weeks back, right honey?” She called out to Liam sweetly who snapped his head in their direction and looked lost for a second.

“Huh?” He looked dazed and finally nodded Oh Yeah, we decided to get married a few weeks ago ” He returned Carla’s tight smile with a sweet one.

“I’m so happy, son. I’m the most happiest woman on the planet right now ” Diana said excitedly.

“Have you picked a date for the wedding?” She asked quickly, looking between Liam and Carla.

Carla shook her head” Not yet, we’ll tell you when we decide that too”

Diana nodded and heaved a sigh of relief” Okay okay, I’m cool with any date you pick. Just be fast about it, hmn?”

“Yes Mom” Liam answered.

“Congrats son, I guess we’re good as long as you promise to give me a grandchild within the first year of your marriage, right? Donald said broodingly.

Liam nodded once” Thanks Dad, yeah I guess so

And nothing about my company concerns you, okay? ” He added, his nostrils flared just by the thought of having his company taken away from him.

Donald nodded” Of course” And he smiled so wide that Carla doubted it was the same man whose face was writhed in

rage minutes ago.

Donald senses her eyes on him and looked in her direction” I’m happy for you, girl. You have my blessings, congratulations “He said in a warm voice.

“Thank you sir” Carla replied and smiled too.

“Just call me Donald * He smiled again.

* Okay ” Carla replied and snuggled up to Liam for warmness. She heard him sucked in a deep breath, he didn’t expect her to do that. Fake or not, he didn’t expect her to display this high level of intimacy before his parents.

“Honey?” She whispered but loudly enough for his parents to hear.

He had to play along so he leaned down and kissed her forehead “Yes sweetheart?”

*I wanna sleep” She replied drowsily and he tapped her softly on the shoulders to keep her awake.

Okay, let’s go home baby” He said and looked up to find his mother looking at them with teary eyes. She was touched by their intimacy. Right then, Liam knew he had to convince Carla one way or the other. They had to make the marriage. happen, he couldn’t afford to break his mother’s heart by telling her it was all a lie. She had looked so happy and fulfilled when she heard the news of their upcoming marriage. But how would he get Carla to marry him? He didn’t know. He would work something out, that was sure. Make a deal with her, maybe or offer her a contract. Something would definitely work out between the two, he said to himself.

*Mom, Dad, I’m afraid you’ll have to excuse us now ” He said, looking at Carla who had already dozed off on his chest. He had never felt more at peace. He felt something tug at his heart but was not sure what exactly it was.

Diana`nodded eagerly” Of course, you can take her home, right honey?” She asked, looking at her husband for

confirmation.

Donald nodded too” Of course, it’s just a pity we didn’t get to finish our dinner and have a heart to heart talk ”

Diana nudged him by the elbow Come on Donald, there’s a lot of time to do that, especially now that they’re getting married. We’ll be family after all

He nodded “Yeah yeah”

*I’m happy with the decision you’ve made son, best one you’ve made in ages” He added and his eyes became moist with tears. He blinked them back furiously.

*Finally, we get to see our grandchild Diana mumbled and they hugged,

Liam nodded and stood up, supporting a sleeping Carla with his weight.

His parents saw him to the door and he said his goodbye before leaving. He placed Carla in gently and went over to the driver’s side.

He got in and exhaled a deep breath. Turning to Carla, he met her wide awake and she folded her hands under her breasts with her eyebrows raised. He looked so startled that he had to place his hands on the wheel for support.

*Surprised to see me awake, HONEY?” She asked with a smirk, and placed emphasis on her last word in a mocking way.

“Uh… Not really” He replied and smiled sheepishly.

Her smirk disappeared and was replaced with a hard look” Now, will you do me the favor of explaining what just happened back there?”

He took a deep breath ” Of course I will, let’s just get out of here, huh?”

“Okay” She agreed but he could sense she managed to control herself when all she wanted to do was to scream and possibly slap him for answers.

He spared her another glance and started the ignition.
