Chapter 46
Heads turned as they walked to the mini restaurant in the company Liam wanted to eat out but Carla blatantly refused and suggested eating in the restaurant. Liam had no choice but to comply with her wish. Really, there was little to nothing he could do when her mind was made up. She sneaked her hand around his arm and with chin held high, she got all the confidence she needed to walk amidst the crowd of people. Of course they stared at her. some had on malicious sneers, some stared at her with admiration and others with sheer curiosity, probably wondering how she had managed to win the heart of one of the most eligible bachelors in Mexico.
Liam smiled down at her, making her crane her neck up to look at him. There, she keep forgetting how tall he was.
âEnjoying yourself, wife?â He asked
She rolled her eyes Pretty much so, but I would like it better if everyone isnât staring at me like I snatched their lover or somethingâ
âYeahâ Liam replied absentmindedly, the thought of how hot she looked in his head.
She continuedâ Theyâre so unbelievable! She exclaimed, waving her hands in the air.

Now she had managed to catch his attention for he looked at her and blinked his eyes twice, wondering if he heard her wrong.
âUh⦠Sorry, did I hear you correctly? He asked, stopping on his tracks. His action was so sudden that Carla almost bumped into him.
âAgh⦠Watch it guy!â She scoffed.
He laughed âSorry, my bad. You said something which quite surprised me â
She rolled her eyes âSo what did I say that got you speechless?â
*Some seconds ago, you said something about our marriage that I found quite surprising and amusing at the same time âHe crossed his arms and regarded her with a dark, intense gaze
âWhat?â She frowned, looking slightly confused.
His gaze on her hardened Youâve forgotten so soon? Or you just donât wanna say It againâ
She rolled her eyes âOf course Iâm not pretending, I really donât reâ¦âRight then, her eyes widened slightly as a look of recognition crossed over her features.
âOh! Is it when I said they should accept the fact that Iâm now married to you and nothing would change that?! She asked, tapping her left foot.
He nodded quickly Yes! Thatâs it, you sounded so real so I wondered if it was really youâ
She laughed, brushing a strand of hair away from her face âOh that? I only said it in favor of the passerbys, weâre being watched you knowâ
âSo, all of those words you said⦠You didnât mean them?â He asked quietly, all traces of joke gone in his voice.
She stared at him longer than it was necessary âYeah, donât count on it because I didnât mean any of that âShe replied softly.
*Okay I wonât, itâs all for the best anyway âHe said with a deep sigh and walked off, leaving Carla rooted on the spot, speechless.
She followed him after a minute and watched him sit at the table close to the window. They waited in silence while their food was brought to them. The waitress came with their order and placed the food on the table, sending Liam seductive glances but he failed to notice as his attention was on Carla.
âHmmn âShe digged in immediately and moaned softly, delighted by the delicious taste of the meal.
*This is so deliciousâ She complimented the absence cook and promised to leave a good review on the app later in the day.
âOne of the best actuallyâ He agreed between a mouthful of sandwich.

About fifteen minutes later, they stood up, ready to leave. Liam glanced at Carla and smiled.
âWhat?â She returned his stare with a frown.
*Shhh * He murmured and closed the distance between them. She sucked in a sharp breath as he invaded her personal space, almost leaving her no breathing space at all,
*Wh⦠What are you doing?!â She stammered in hushed whisper and looked around. Sure enough, people were staring at them, murmuring in low tones
âWeâre in the public donât you dare do anything funny! She glared at him.
He didnât reply, instead he brought a hand up and caressed her cheeks which were now red.
She stuttered âWhat⦠Whatever prank youâre⦠trying to pull wonât work on me, Liam so stop, this is crazy really
*It is?â He asked with a wry chuckle. She knew he was teasing her and damn, it was working
She hissed âDamnit Liam. Iâm gonna⦠Her remaining words hung in the air as Liam finally spared her the torment and brushed his thumb softly against something on her lower lip.
Her cheeks turned bright red as she realized that there was a crumb on her lip and he had wiped it away for her. Well to be truthful, she thought he was about to kiss her and she had anticipated his kiss, inregardless of all her rants about the people present. Now she wished everyone would just disappeared so she could be alone with him or better still, there should be a world where only the two of them existed.
