Liam gave her a thumbs up and quickly went to get dressed while Carla dragged herself to her wardrobe too. Minutes later, he was driving her to Jenny’s

restaurant.

“If you need anything, anything at all, you’re just a call away “He said as he swerved into the direction of the street that led to Jenny’s restaurant

She nodded gaily Okay sir, I’ll do that”

He smiled and finally pulled the car to a stop. He got out first and came around to her side to open the door for her.

*Thank you” She said softly and took the hand he offered.

He held her by the shoulders Should I walk you in?”

She shook her head “No I can manage, now go on”

He nodded and pulled her into a hug while patting her on the back. Then he kissed the top of her forehead.

* Take care, huh? He stared at her intently

*Bye!” She said with a wave and went in.

“Jenny!” She squealed in excitement when she sighted her friend,

Jenny looked back and her eyes widened in excitement too when she saw Carla.

Sweetheart!” And she quickly rushed over to her.

Carla pulled her into a warm embrace until she finally pulled back

“What are you doing here?” Jenny asked, surprised.

Carla rolled her eyes “What does it look like? I came to say Hi of course, or am I not welcome here?”

*Of course you are darling“. Jenny chided her.

“But last time I checked, you were in a hurry to get rid of me so I didn’t know you’d come here ” She added with a glare

*Come on, you know I love you” She said teasingly.

Jenny eyed her “I’m beginning to doubt that”

Carla smiled sweetly You don’t need to, honey”

Come on Jenny said and led the way over to a table in a corner. She took her seat and Carla imitated her.

*So how have you been?” Jenny asked casually in a bid to start a conversation.

Carla shrugged I’ve been doing pretty good, what about you?”

“I’ve been doing great too Jenny said and shrugged

Carla raised her eyebrows “Really? How was your date with Alex? Did it go well? *

Jenny shrugged again but Carla could see she was struggling to hold back her excitement. She took a swig from her drink and slurped, which made Carla scrunch up her nose in disgust, thinking it was unladylike.

“Well?” Carla prompted when she didn’t say anything anything more.

“Our date went well, it was fantastic to be honest Jenny finally let out.

Carla looked at her suspiciously “It went well? That’s it? There’s more to it than what you’re telling me, isn’t it?”

Jenny sighed * We kissed… And we kinda made out”

Carla’s eyes became as huge as saucers as she regarded her friend in shock “You did what?!” She whispered hoarsely.

Jenny rolled her eyes I believe you heard me right when I told you”

Carla returned her look with one of her own” Yeah I heard you duh, I’m just surprised that’s all”

*Well don’t be, it’s fine Jenny said dismissively.

“It’s not Jenny! You… Did you… Did you fall for his charms?!” She shouted and the couple at the table behind them stared at the both of them.

*Keep your voice down, my customers wouldn’t like it Jenny cautioned in a whisper.

Carla glared at her “As if”

Jenny stared at her “And in answer to your question, no, I didn’t fall for his charms. It was a mutual feeling”

Carla eyebrows were furrowed as though she couldn’t understand what Jenny was saying.

“What are you even saying? Mutual feeling?? Are you telling me you like him and he likes you too?” She asked.

Jenny sighed wearily “Look Carla, I don’t have any feelings for him…

Carla interrupted her with a glare” Oh, who’s talking about feelings here? Anyway, you just implied that you have feelings for him”

Jenny returned her glare “Don’t get me wrong dummy, I believe I just said the complete opposite of what you stated now

Carla rolled her eyes “I know you too well my friend, you meant the exact opposite of what you said about not having feelings for him. Besides Jenny, it’s written all over your face that you’re into this guy and I’m sure he is too “She took a pause.

“So why don’t you guys spare yourselves the torture and go for each other? She added.

Jenny sighed, tired of arguing with Carla, she knew Carla was just as stubborn as she was and she was not going to give up until she gave her an answer she would be satisfied with, and that’s saying the truth if she was being honest with herself.

Carla whooped and clapped her hands in excitement “I knew it!”

Jenny threw her a glare Knew it?”

Carla smiled dreamily “You know, from the moment you told me about him, I knew this would happen ”

“What would happen? Jenny asked and crossed her arms under her bosom as she regarded Carla.

Carla gave her a dull look “I knew you would fall for each other, duh”

Jenny sighed “You’re getting this all wrong, even if I like him, I’m not sure if he feels the same: Besides, we live in two different worlds”

Carla eyed her “If I remember correctly, you said the feeling was mutual so what happened to that? Where did the courage go?”

But Carla cut her off “No, you listen, who says you’re not compatible?!”
