Chapter 66
âHey darling! Hope you didnât wait for long?â Diana said as she hugged Carla before sliding into the chair beside her. Carla intentionally arrived before her to get herself settled mentally
Not at allCarla shook her head vigorously and smiled
Good Diana smiled back and called over the waiter who was nearby. She turned to Carla and frowned ever so slightly. She squinted her eyes and looked at her closely, while staring at her figure
âWow, I must say this marital life suits you. Oh my, youâre glowing âDiana commented.
Carla blushed âReally?â
âYou know I wouldnât lie to you if itâs not true, youâre glowing more every dayâ Diana said again.
âAww thank you Carla replied softly.
âYouâre welcome âDiana answered and turned in the direction she saw the waiter. She was probably wondering what was taking him so long. Carla thought. Luckily enough, the waiter was already making his way over to them. He was accompanied by a young waitress who was sashaying her way over to them too.
âWhat took you so long?âDiana asked but there was no malice in her voice.
âIâm sorry maâamâ The waiter apologized politely and handed them the menu.
*Thanks, you can go, weâll call you when weâre ready to order âShe told the guy with a smile
âOkay maâamâ He replied and walked away
*So my dear, whatâs going on with you lately?â She asked curiously.
Carla smiled âNothing much, weâre just goodâ
*Itâs been a while since I saw Donald, I hope he is okay? She asked pleasantly
Diana smiled at widely âHeâs good dear, thank youâ
âI was getting bored of him so I called to spend time with an interesting young lady âShe added, beaming with smiles.
Carla laughed Did you just say Donald is boring??â
âOf course, the old guy is boring and I felt I would die if I stay in that house ony more second âDiana replied nonchalantly and flipped her hair behind her ear. She really was full of life and energy, Carla thought with a smile.
She laughed harder â Come on Diana, Donald isnât boring! Heâs way far from it âCarla insisted and laughed harder, her whole body shaking from the action. Diana scoffed âYou think so? Heâs my husband so I know him more âShe looked proud, a reaction that was far from what she said.
Carlaâs eyes twinkled with mischief The same husband youâre saying bad things about
âI know!â Diana exclaimed in a girlish sort of way.
âBut you love him! âCarla fired back jokingly and they both ended up laughing.
âOf course I do!â Diana replied and blushed which led Carla to believe the old couple were still so much in love with each other.
âLetâs talk about another interesting thing pleaseâ She said, wanting to change the subject already because she was blushing so hard that even Carla decided to take pity on her.
Carla laughed and humored her âSo what should we talk about?â
*Anything interesting of course, thatâs why itâs called Girlsâ night out, isnât it?â Diana said happily.
Carla nodded âOf course!â She exclaimed, sharing Dianaâs excitement.
Both were quiet, lost in their own world and thoughts until Diana slammed her hands over the table, startling the three ladies who sat nearby but Diana didnât seem to care.
âYou know what? Letâs start this interesting conversation from somewhere, shall we? She asked and didnât wait for a reply before she continued âYou wanted to tell something, yeah? So letâs start our Girlsâ night from there!â She said loudly.
Carla laughed and then cleared her throat before proceeding to talk âI wanted to tell you. That Iâm carrying Liamâs babyâ She watched Dianaâs expression turned into one of utmost shock, surprise, joy and sheer excitement.
âWhat?!â She shouted in disbelief.
Carla nodded âIâm pregnant, yeah
*Come on stand up, let me look at you!â Diana exclaimed and pulled Carla up
*Oh⦠Oh my goodness! She whispered and drew Carla into a tight, warm embrace.
âI canât express how happy you just made me feel with this wonderful newsâ She said and her voice broke down, which made Carla wondered for the third time if she was crying too. Why were they crying anyway? They should be happy, not crying
âAre you crying? Carla finally gave in to the urge and asked.
She felt Diana sniff No⦠Of course not, Iâm not crying, something flew into my eyes I guess. She lied but it was so obvious and glaring that she had been crying.
Come here âCarla said even though they were already hugging Now, it was her turn to pat her on the back.
âOh Iâm so happy Carla, finally I get to see my grandchild before dying She sniffed again.
Carla smiled, her own eyes were starting to fill up with tears too âItâs okayâ
*Yeahâ Diana said and wiped away her tears that it was hard to Imagine she cried in the first place. They resumed their seats.
*I assume you told Liam already Diana said thoughtfully.
Carla nodded âYeah I did â
âAnd what was his response? Of course he would be happy, it was what he always wanted âDiana answered her question, a soft smile still on her face.
âI really canât wait to see my grandchild!â She added with a feeling of enthusiasm.
âCanât wait to see my son or daughter tooâ Carla put in.
*You donât know the gender yet? âDiana asked curiously and Carla shook her head.
âNo, not yet âShe replied.
âIâm cool with either a boy or girl though âDiana said thoughtfully, unaware that the peaceful, contented smile was still on her face.
âYeah I think so too Carla agreed with a smile.
*Now letâs eat, shall we? âDiana chuckled and hollered to a waitress nearby.
